It's funny to have a lot of people talking about their own solution without actually mentioning the solution. Everyone could be talking about different things and yet the conversation continues.
It doesn't really matter to me if you post the answer, the thread has existed for two years now. I'd rather not be receiving a whole bunch of PMs about this
Though actually if anyone can't get it we can post the answer in spoiler tags for you to cheat off of.
I never thought about the second gnome, but it is true that eventually two gnomes will be able to identify their own hat color (and yes, they know what order they are in line). The last two gnomes will sadly never know for sure.
