On the one hand, sharing the account would give the freemium member premium benifits which he/she did not pay to have accessible to them.
On the other hand, you paid for your Premium membership, it's yours to use as much or as little as you want (the real selling point to purchasing premium afterall). If you give your password to your friend and don't mind your rating being affected by their play I couldn't see a big problem, it's not like either of you are being multis.
The thing here is that someone might say "your friend" is a multi for having access to your account and his which I don't agree with. You purchased premium, it's yours. To use the car example I've seen done before, if you go and buy a car, it's yours to use as much as you want, if while you're not driving it you want to let a friend use it... it's well within your rights to do so, even if he didn't pay for it. You still have the gas bill... you still have to deal with the milage but it's your call. Your premiumship was unlimited play for that set ammount, I would have a hard time logically saying that you can't let someone else use your account if you're not going to complain about it.
Now... there's the loss of revenue, your friend would be entitled to these things if he bought premium himself afterall... so it really depends on how you look at it.
a) Your premium membership is unlimited play and speedgames for your account because you bought it, and you want to let someone else "use your car" while you're sleeping, go ahead.
b) Your friend did not buy premium membership, and for both you and he to be enjoying speed games, the site should theoretically be collecting 50$ for 2 people using premium benefits not 25$. Very likely they might say he is multiing.

PS: Why not just have your friend stop using his freemium account if you're willing to share your premium with him? Unlimited games is fine and between the 2 of you it would be easy to avoid stepping on each other's toes. Still... it's your rank and your call. But for your friend he would have access to 2 accounts. This is all theoretical based on how you presented the question.
The correct answer is no. If you do, you will both get busted and you will lose your premium. Another player may not create or join (other than tournament game commitments) any games for your account. If the other player wants to play speed games, they must either get premium on their own, or wait to see if there are any more circumstances in the future where free accounts have been allowed to play speed games in the past. If you have any more questions about this, please send me a PM.
This really is a good question. (Sis... hear that? That's you getting the smack-down! hahaaa!)
Picking up on Bruce's question and where Selucid sorta left off however, what if 2 people do use the 1 premium account considering neither player has another account? We all know you bust players for having access to multiple accounts, but do you bust 2 different players for use of the 1 account even when they have no other accounts?
Say 2 friends get together, don't care about the rank and want to have a good time playing the game, if they each put up $12.50 and 1 of the 2 players purchase premium on a neutral email. They each know the password and each continuously log into the account and play their own games?

I'm no mod but IIRC that has been deemed OK earlier, though both (all) people using the same account was not allowed any other accounts (free or prem).

Correct. That has been said in the past. However, in the case of the OP here, it would be considered having multiple accounts, as the second user already has their own.

Once you have made an account, you have an account. Not using it any more, does not mean it is no longer yours.
the loophole in the whole thing is if you let your non-premium friend "account-sit" for you while on "vacation" -
at any rate, it is generally a bad idea. Guys like lancehoch and King Achilles and Sully800 are around for the sole purpose of finding multiple accounts per MAC/IP address and banning said accounts. If you want to protect your $25 investment, don't share your login info... even with another premium account-holder.

if you are not trying to get around the rules, as suggested above, babysitting an account is well within the rules. i think you missed the point of KM's very valid and funny post. you should have asked around or checked the forums before going away for a week and not having a sitter...-0
p.s.-truly though, what is the downside of being a busted multi? you just buy back in for twenty-five bucks and all is forgiven. don't agree, but it is how it is... however, in another thread andy declared something new was about to be unveiled to deal with multis...
Thorthoth,"Cloaking one's C&A fetish with moral authority and righteous indignation
makes it ever so much more erotically thrilling"
My question was not meant to be completely theoretical - here's the real situation
I was playing against someone I normally play against frequently (a preimuim account holder) but the chat was really weird...
Then the person admits to me that she is not the normal account holder (although she does have a much-played freemuim account) - but she borrows the premium account when she wants to play speed games so she can avoid paying
An interesting twist - she's a higher rated player than the premium account holder
Anyway, I was curious if this were legal, or whether she was violating the rules and basically abusing CC privledges by not paying - the site needs $ to function, I pay mine, why should some players get a free ride?
el-presidente wrote:Can you share a non npremium account? I don't know why you would, but could 2 people have one account?
From reading previous threads, I can tell you:
You can share an account as long as none have another account. Some families, friends do this.
Having 2 accounts for any reason at all is not allowed because the temptation is too great to turn multis. The only exception is "babysitting". But that means just finishing games you have started, not starting new games (not sure if there is an exception for on-going tourneys, but I would guess no).
waaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiit
so the two ppl on one account vs two accounts on one account
r u saying that the latter account, member B is getting punished for having an account?
BOTH should be illegal as they encompass the same concept
please tell me the downside of two accounts, premium and freemium that dont play each other that doesnt exist when two people share one account
to add a punishment simply because another account is involved (and there is no way to play together and get away with it)
