For me, the interesting point is that discrimination is usually directed at minority groups. People who make sexist remarks are not looking to offend a minority.

My main concern with this issue is that there are young and influential people on the site. I wouldn't be impressed if kids were reading these threads and thinking it's okay as long as you make a joke of it. As funny as some people may find the jokes, I think they should be kept out of threads discussing serious issues.

Jamie you are the most sexest homophobic ass i have ever met. You degrade everything sacred in the world. Don't you have a concience do you? As for your comment you could never have a romantic life. You will probably end up as a wifebeater. I don't care what rank you are, you are a chovonistic pig.

Women are gods greatest creation and they must be respected and cared for. They have supported men for decades and are the only reason humanity has survived. We are the name of peace and war, but never anything but a voice of wisdom. If you think you are so much better than us try to pick a fight some time, that is if you want your ass kicked and balls removed.

But hey that's just my opinion O:)[/quote]

Um, the remark about women was a joke, and I am not homophobic. I do not fear homosexuals, because I am not homosexual, plus most of them aren't exactly scary. Most homophobes refer to homosexuals as fags, or queers. That is demeaning, and I don't do it. What I said is known facts found in many a college textbook in several different classes. The only opinion I gave, was my viewpoint on putting them to death, and the acknowledgement that just because a person can indeed be born gay, doesn't mean they have to act on the impulse. Some people are born attracted to children, but we still throw them in prison if they act on the impulse. I might also add, that sodomy is a felony in most US states, so homosexual sex is a crime, and punishable by prison, so why our society is so accepting of this, I do not know.

I don't get it. If I make a sexist joke about women and then a sexist joke about men, am I a sexist. If so, towards whom?

For example (I know these are old ones, I am just demonstrating):

What the you call thet shriveled, useless piece of skin behind the penis?

A man.

What time is it when the woman comes out of the kitchen?

Time to buy a new chain for her.

This thread is really enjoyable to read

I dont agree with sexism or racism but it annoys me that only white christian men can be racist sexist and discriminate

If we ever went to a muslim country and said they couldnt celebrate (enter muslim holiday here) they would probably kick us out, but they come over here getting upset that we celebrate christmas
Would you choose supremecy if it lead to isolation?

I can't say I've ever met a Muslim who was upset that Christmas is celebrated in Britain. I think you've been reading the Daily Mail too much...

Do you mean Birmingham council and "Winterval"? If you'd looked at Birmingham council's website at Christmas you would have seen a massive banner saying "Merry Christmas", just like they have always done.

Also, I think something like 5% of Arabs are Christians, and some of them are definitely descended from people who have been Christians for longer than British people have. That's to say nothing about the Jews that live all over the Middle East (although ever since the creation of Israel, they ARE leaving Arab countries).

I'm not just getting at you here, I just think your focus is wrong here. Personally, I'd say it's nothing to do with whether countries are Christian or Muslim, but whether they are secular or theological. For example, you can drink in Turkey, as most British people will know, because though it is a Muslim country, it is also secular. Also a lot of the repressive countries (Iraq as was, Saudi Arabia now, Jordan) are like that because Western countries make sure they stay that way.

its a joke, get over it, if you cant get the f*ck out.. we are here to enjoy ourselves.. you dont like what people say in forums.. do not be in the fuckin forums for Christ on a stick sake

Teya wrote:what you need to realise (and I'm not offended) is not everyone will take it as a joke. You wouldn't get away with making racist jokes/comments so you shouldn't get away with sexist jokes/comments. Which is what my point is.
I also think mods need to be a bit more controlled with what they say. Any discrimination from a mod makes the site look very bad.
Master Bush you've made plenty of sexist comment/jokes. Take your Mod status more seriously.

if they cannot take it as a joke... leave... as i said before.. someone makes a sexist comment, grow a pair and say a sexist comment right back at them.. same with racism and all the rest...

i get away with making racist, sexist, and all the other comments and jokes all the time, its my friends, i make comments about blacks and whites and hispanics.. why because i have friends of all colors and creeds and gender and they realize and they come back at me with their own jokes and comments..

THE MODS ARE FINE, THEY HAVE A SENSE OF HUMOR APPARENTLY YOU DO NOT SO BACK THE HELL OFF... it has been working for however long this site has appeared... it will continue to work as such, we do this for fun, we intend to have fun, hell look at the flame forum, people go in there fight it out, by the time the thread dies, people are laughing at each other over half the time..

the offender
the offended
the stache or the stache-like
the crazy

the offender offends people left rite and centre,
the offended moans a lot and complains (whether their offense is justified or not)
the stache-like post unrelated pics and the stache post even bigger unrelated pics
the crazy hav no idea wat they r doing

if u truly find u hav a problem then say so and then let the people b the judge of it

im crazy...

Rahm Es Hestos wrote:Well to actually put a serious post up here, I'd have to agree with the whole sexist thing should be included in the guidelines. As you can see, there are quite a few imature boys on this site that don't really care about the point you are making. Overall, I think you are absoultely right about women deserving more respect and think that you should take this arguement to some of the people that run this site. With that said, best of luck and i hope you make a difference! :)

again... most put sexist comments on this thread just because they want to make fun of the original post... they are bored and ya... i have tons of respect for women but im not beyond making sexist comments..

Nephilim wrote:but wouldn't racism also come under "bigotry?" seems like we are distinguishing racism from bigotry, giving it more recognition (which it should have) but relegating sexism to an umbrella term as if it is unimportant.

seems reasonable to say.....are we waiting for some terribly sexist idiot to go off on a female, then we will change the wording of the guidelines?

i'd like to see an active approach to warn jerks away from sexist language

peace

that sexist idiot was kramsey06 who thought since he dated s.xkitten he owned her (yes im bringing that old thing back up lol)

After reading this topic and discussing with the Mod Squad, I updated the guidelines as follows:

Bigotry (e.g. racism, religion-bashing, aggressively homophobic language);

Now bigotry is clearly an umbrella term that would include sexism.
