i really can't find anything here, although i liked the "scale," even though i understand why you took it off. Maybe just "size scale?"
and I agree with ed on the between. "Bonuses for holding railroads connecting cities" would be better, IMO.

oaktown, an observation if I may...the middle of the book gives the impression of some curvature to the page, but this doesn't follow through on the actual map. The map in the middle of the page in some places needs slightly more curve on the borders and rail lines and text names to flow into the "crease" rather than appear as a transparent overlay sitting on top of the pages. Particularly with the edges being so thick, the crease would be rather deep.

I think this is an important case because if we have no text, many people would know what to do (but some wouldn't). Whereas if we have poorly worded text, many of these people (either those who would or wouldn't figure it out without text) will become confused because of the wording.

Actually, I think that sounds fine; in fact, this is how I had it weeks ago, but somebody complained. And we aren't supposed to be using the word "territories" any more. Anyway, I hope the new language - and the addition of city dots on the rail example below the text - help matters.

The only other change I've made here is putting the rail lines behind the territory ( ) titles.

As there have been no other gameplay concerns for weeks (months?) I'm going to begin the work of making the image look like it bends in at the crease.

I agree - bending at the crease is pretty much the only thing this map could have to improve it. I imagine it being a painstaking affair - the N of Nepal will be tricky.

Actually I just thought I'd group all of the layers on the surface of the page, duplicate them and split them left and right, then distort the inner edges a smidge. It'll just take five minutes, but as I make future changes it'll require a redo, so it would be best if this is the last thing I have to do.

Here's a quick example of what the map will look like with some warping at the center crease. What I've done is grouped all of the layers that represent images printed on the page, duplicated the layers and split them left/right, warped the inner 1/8th inch or so, and brought them back together. Like I said, five minutes.

I think I may have overdone it just a bit for the first go, but I wanted to give an example. Something will have to be done to make Raipuer more readable, but everything else seems to work pretty well. I think the center of the page actually needs more grunge/shadow to sell the effect.

i think you should give the whoel thing a slight curve, so the tips ae bent up and the crease is bent down to make it look less like an error

I can see other cartograpers following your lead with the bookstylefor other old/ fantasy maps.

Do you thin the colours may have faded/bleached slightly over the years? Minor point.

Well oaktown, i've looked very hard at this map for 10-15 mins trying to find something i can pick at. But i can honestly say that i can't find anything The graphics are superb, and i can't find anything that needs changing. I think you're very close to a Graphics Stamp Well Done

i've been a big fan of this since day one, so i don't really have much to say, other than i'm happy with the final product and it took a little longer than i thought it would to get to this stage. the graphics are beautiful in my opinion, as well as clever and original.

the one concern i have is the territory "ahmed." if it stands for something, is it going to be put somewhere on the map? and in terms of attacking and deployment, is it going to be named "ahmed" or is the longer name going to be used (for example, in the british isles 2 map, the territ labeled oxon is actually oxsfordshire or something like that, and thats the name you have to choose when you attack). i'm just afraid that if the name is lengthened in the attack/reinforce phase, that people might get confused if its not marked on the map that "ahmed." stands for something longer
