Careful boys, you are starting to have a semi intelligent conversation, there is no room for that in CC. We don't want our local locksmith locking this down. Please dumb it down a little.xelabale wrote:Of course where you're going isn't wrong, and doesn't need correcting to where you came from.

Questioning a decision over which you have zero authority is a waste of your own time and energy, and an annoyance to those who are exposed to your error.xelabale wrote:Why? Once a decision is taken we shouldn't question it? Once we went into Iraq we shouldn't question that decision? Really?

Principle's the same. Should you not question a decision after it's made? Whatever that question is? I was simply using another example, any would do, but that one's eye-catching.Timminz wrote:Oh, you haven't heard? Yup, if someone else make's a decision concerning me, I'll simply accept it. There's a difference between questioning a decision and getting it changed. The former is ABSOLUTELY fine, the latter may or may not happen depending on the situation. Why, Klobber, do you want to stifle all debate regarding FW? What are you afraid of? Free speech is scary, isn't it.... people might, shock, disagree with you!!!!!KLOBBER wrote:Questioning a decision over which you have zero authority is a waste of your own time and energy, and an annoyance to those who are exposed to your error.xelabale wrote:Why? Re: Should we revive the Flame wars?
And here we go again, the ANTI-FLAMERS flaming a thread. Yep, they populate a thread that they want C.C. "Thought Police' to lock down!
Why don't you ANTI-FLAMING FLAMERS start your own thread and leave us in peace? You guys say it's boring, repetitive and other blah, blah and more blahs, so then ignore us and stop trolling.
I'm personally sick and tired of the unequal justice that C.C. administrators are handing out to those they disagree with.
Big Brother is watching YOU. Welcome to 1984 and the land of double speak.

Re: Should we revive the Flame wars?
I think it's quite simple, unfortunately I wasn't in FW to witness it, but clearly from his actions Klobber must have taken a misstep and walked into FW and gotten his ass handed to him by someone/people. Now, most people would probably just shrug it off, have a laugh, flame back but he clearly took offense to it. So he's held a grudge ever since just waiting for the day...and that day has come and he is basking in his glory of FW being eliminated. I know, it's sad, but it is what it is.xelabale wrote: Yup, if someone else make's a decision concerning me, I'll simply accept it. I just find it funny how he says this thread is annoying but then he can't stop coming back constantly. Generally it's human nature that when something annoys you, you try and avoid it or get away from it.
that's why it's hard to take him seriously...even though I don't really think he's trying to be taken seriously.

This website is not a champion of free speech, and has never advertised itself as such. You may have CC confused with Amnesty International or some other human rights organization.
Until you gather some capital and purchase this privately-owned website, you will simply have to put up with the policies favored by its present owner, or go elsewhere. I'm sorry if this fact frightens or angers you, but that's the nature of the "reality sandwich," sadly.
PS -- I never said that this thread was annoying. On the contrary, I LOVE this thread!

Again, I never said this thread was annoying; I said that questioning a decision over which you have no authority is an annoyance (as you can see from the above quotes). Yes. The only rights you have on this site are those created by contract law, which in this care doesn't give you much.

I did, taking with me some maps ideas I was working on; some tourney ideas I'd developed but hadn't yet announced because I already had one running; whatever my meagre talents could contribute to the various newsletters. I'd say I took a good attitude with me but this place killed it which is why I left.mpjh wrote:
OK, do what all dissatisfied customers have a right to do. Leave.
I only peeked back in because a buddy told me I might want to look in at this thread; he seemed to think I'd think that elimination of 'flame wars' would resolve my difficulty with CC. Nope; I don't think I ever visited flame wars, but that didn't stop me from seeing constant flaming. Eliminating flame wars didn't take care of flaming and general nastiness, either...went into live chat just this week and what happened? Someone got nasty within minutes, a mod didn't stop it, and I felt as unwelcome as when I chose to leave.
Like I said in my first post in this thread, it's not "Flame Wars" that caused the problem; it was the flames in other places on CC, tolerated by moderators, that was (and continues to be) the problem.

The governments of many countries do provide the right to LIMITED free speech for their citizens. However, Conquer Club is under no legal or moral obligation to provide any amount of free speech to anyone, not even to its paying members.HayesA wrote:Yes. Try Amnesty International -- they are more likely to be moved to compassion for your plight, although I suspect that they may have more serious problems on their hands than helping a handful of children on a privately-owned internet gaming site regain the ability to swear at each other.

Ability to harass and swear at each other is alive and well on CC; just do it in gamechat or get friendly with mods in social and you'll have no problems.KLOBBER wrote:

So Fuzzy...can I call you Fuzzy? You banned me for what? FLAMING right? Hmmm, so if others who just happen to "troll" the threads of those who want to have a "civil discussion" on the merits of Flame Wars, that's ok? To be a ANTI-FLAMING-FLAMER who tows the line of "correct thinking," that's ok...right?
Do I risk a banning, just for having a "civil discussion" on those who FLAME from the ANTI-FLAMING side? Is there more to just free speech, but also fairness?
Tell me do other Canadian websites boast that they're not for free speech and fairness?
We all have seen what happens in the last couple of weeks, first the cyber-thugs come out to FLAME those who want "civil discussion" on the merits of Flame Wars and then the Moderators come out and "LOCK UP THREADS" and issue out "WARNINGS" and "BANS."
Free speech and fairness is that too much to ask?
