"The Final Fantasy World has always been a place of great and wonderful magic, and it has been for one reason - the lifestream. However, during Final Fantasy 7, the Lifestream used an enormous amount of energy to help repair and heal the World it was attacked. With its power drained, the world began to hibernate, so to speak, in order to heal itself.
The Lifestream is not a thing, it is an entity in and of itself. With magic powering it, the Lifestream is not a singular thing - it is present in all time, at one time. And not just that, it is present on every Final Fantasy World at one time. This is a great thing, for, it has become like a God to these Universes - it is also a terrible thing, for now that it has been damaged, it has not just been damaged in one place. The Lifestream has been mortally wounded, and everyone now feels its pain.
On every world, during every physical time, people are now losing their ability to properly wield the Magic; Pure, natural Magic users, and Materia powered Spell casters, every conceivable way to use magic is slowly but surely being drained back into the Lifestream, in order for it to repair itself. Frightened, confused, even angry, many of them have turned to a new form of gaining power; draining it from the life force of others.
Now, every Final Fantasy World is in the fight of their lives - They now fight for their very survival. Driven to madness, every world has begun battling within themselves.
You now battle to restore not only to restore Order to your World, but also, to gain enough power to claim the Crown of Power - to call yourself the King of this World.
Welcome to the Final Fantasy Wars."
This introduces a series of tournaments hosted by laxguy and myself, called the Final Fantasy Wars. The entire tournament is based on the Final Fantasy franchise. In each tournament, the theme will be based on one of the 13 Final Fantasy games - From I to XII (including X-2). The format will vary, with only one (Final Fantasty X-2) being doubles. The rest will be in a Free for All style, with the gameplay varying as well. Some of these will be open to Freemiums; some of them will not. We will mention whether or not it is available in each thread posted. The winners of each tourney will be given a spot in the final tournament of the series, a clash of all the games, where two concurrent tournaments will run. First, the 14 winners will fight against each other in free for all competition until there is only one victor. As well as this, there will be a 64-man straight knockout, open to all. The winner of these two tournaments will then duke it out to become the victor. As such, winners of the 13 tourneys prior to the finale will not be able to enter any other remaining tournaments, in order to avoid repeat finalists for the final tournament (e.g., Player A enters the FF 3 tournament and wins, he will then be ineligible to enter the tournaments for FF IV - FF XII, but gains a place for the final tournament)
This is the third tournament of the series, again hosted by myself, and it will be based on Final Fantasy III. This is the third game of the series, and click on the name for a brief wiki link on stories, characters, etc. In keeping with the other tournaments, players choose an "Esper" from the game to represent. Players must also announce a home map - if this is not done so then the default map will be Classic Shapes. For reasons that will become clear below, Midgard cannot be chosen as a home map
The Round by Round settings and maps are below under the spoiler tag. In order to accommodate potential Freemiums, each match in the round will be played individually. Freemiums must have a game slot open within 72h of a game being announced, or they will lose a point as a penalty (In other words, they will "gain" -1 points). The other players will play for the remaining places.
To better explain, below is the details in simpler form.
