The point he was making is that in business circles there is no such thing as 'bad publicity'. Getting your business mentioned in the media, even if it's in connection with bad news, is still getting your business mentioned and thus raising the profile of your business however dubious or negative the focus is.salr15 wrote:And regarding your terrible example, if a car dealership got reported laundering money, it would most likely cause the business to be shut down. How is that good press in anyway? "Did you hear about that dealership that got caught laundering money?? Come on! We gotta go buy a car from them!!" hahahaha. silly, just silly Ronc.

guys you are going off topic, and for fear of this thread getting locked, lets go back to the original question.
Re: whats with all the locked threads?
What could be better than getting a thread about locked threads locked? It's almost like someone forsaw that when they made the thread title.......

Artimis, never start your own business, for the sake of your employees. There is so much flaw in this statement, it's disgraceful.Artimis wrote:The point he was making is that in business circles there is no such thing as 'bad publicity'. We live in an age of thread-locking. Just accept it.

Re: whats with all the locked threads?
I think that this is the proper place to post this. Thank god night stick locked that flame wars thread. Now those of you who know me know that I bitch and moan about threads being locked, but that thing needed it. There were people in there arguing over the spelling of beating a dead horse. For once I agree with a thread going away.
Re: whats with all the locked threads?
Of course one doesn't have to read a thread if one doesn't like it. One could let the people who enjoy equine flagellation continue without locking it - just don't go there!Georgerx7di wrote:I think that this is the proper place to post this. HEHEHE KH, you've still got it!King_Herpes wrote:Well, you see, this all began in medieval times. I believe this idea or rigorous protection derived from the ancient chastity belt which was designed to prevent sexual intercourse on the behalf of the fair temptress sporting it. Locking threads doesn't prevent flaming where flaming isn't supposed to occur; only mods following through on the rules despite it may mean slapping the paw of a pet will inhibit flames where flames aren't supposed to occur for players (like me, but not just me) who shouldn't have to put up with that stuff while playing a game.
Later in this thread someone suggested re-initiating flame wars with a mod monitor. I don't get that. Re-initiate flame wars as THE place for anything goes, where mods and players who don't want to participate don't have to go. If the name "flame wars" isn't appetizing, call it "Free4All Zone."
Meanwhile, ensure the mods start using their rulers to wrist slap for flames and harassment in places like game chat, social, callouts, and other discussions IF it's reported in C&A. Seems a lot less work to send warnings stemming from C&A reports than it is to peek into every chat and provide the equivalent of, "I don't like you no matter what the other dude did to instigate, so you're getting the wrist-slap."
Like, duh, follow what the rules officially say.

everyday i go over to that website, i see new faces everyday. i am guessing 2 a day. and that may be a lowball session. and as far as promoting it. i am not. i merely stated what is happening.
chaosfactor and wicked are promoting it. if a reporter were to report about a car dealership laundering money, are they promoting that car dealer? no they are not. but bad press is good press i hear.
make more logical statements salr, and i will respond with more in depth answers
Yup I stand outside the houses of parliament day in and day out with a sandwich board proclaiming the "End of Flaming is Nigh" written on one side and "Pile on Awesome" written on the other side. I have heard that the best flamers hang out in there. They are our leaders, I always look up to authority.
Wicked was last seen riding a unicycle around congress in a ballerina tutu, handing out flyers to all the thugs that reside within. I,m guessing pretty soon we will have access to our own nuclear arsenal and several large spy satellites that will be later on used with little or no moderation to further promote the art of flaming around the world.
We have also founded a cloning farm specifically designed to breed angry babies that sprout obscenities once the dummy is removed from the mouth. We also decided not to give them legs, instead we added 5 more fingers per hand with the hope it will double their typing speed. Thus rendering decent conversation another kick in the collective knackers.
