Suggestion: Flat deployment for all players in round 1

Post by iambligh »

We all know that luck is a big part of the game, but if a game can be made fairer, I'm sure all players would appreciate it.

As we know, a continent bonus for one player who starts with 12+ territories can allow him to cut his opponent's bonus to 3 and virtually decide the game before his opponent even gets a chance to play.

While a random drop can give one player an advantage, it shouldn't decide a game.

What I'm proposing is that all players deploy the same amount in round 1 based on the number of territories they start the game with. In other words, starting with a continent bonus won't give them a huge leg up, as they won't receive extra troops to deploy, and being attacked by opponents prior to their first turn won't start players off with a huge disadvantage, as they will have a chance to answer the attacks with the same force with which they were attacked.

I'm only commenting because my excellent idea faded into the grand design -- it would be more fair and easy to code.

Suggestion: Flat deployment for all players in round 1

It does appear that many of the really good ideas get lost in the back of this forum simply because no one comes to comment on the problems with the suggestion.

Still agree with this.

This suggestion duplicates the one made in Even start for all players. Further discussion should continue in that thread.

This duplicate suggestion thread locked.
