It's not a (poll), it's a petition. Good luck sorting this thing out guys.owenshooter wrote:p.s.-just refuse to vote yes in a ridiculous poll that only gives yes options...
Re: Petition (poll) to reinstate olkok and smokespride
I support this petition 100%!
In my opinion, the only piece of evidence needed is that they've not played any games together...
To be a "multi" is to seek an unfair advantage, which is clearly not being done.
That being said - perhaps CC admins are not really wrong either. -If the correct protocal wasn't followed before both used the same IP, the site admins reserve the right to take corrective action. -Imagine the chaos that would occur if there were no procedures in place to address this situation.
Considered as a unique case though, the fair response by CC would be to reinstate both accounts and block the two from games together.

Re: Petition (poll) to reinstate olkok and smokespride
I voted yes for both.
However, I stand by the decisions of the administrators whatever they do. There must be something that we can't see that made them make this decision. They have all the information, and if they looked and re-looked, then maybe Olkok is guilty. Still, a little clarification would be nice.

I never criticised your petition, I just saide_i_pi wrote:Learn what a petition is before you criticise one
I congratulate you on your clever use of taking something that the site offers [a poll] to attempt to use it for something else [a petition]. However if you are going to start a thread you have to try your best to anticipate whether people are going to get the point. As Serbia mentions, people are ignorant.GenuineEarlGrey wrote:Not sure how you can call this a poll when the only options are to vote yes and yes*.
*Apologies if someone has already posted on this.
I've posted to enough threads on the forum to realise that if the reader is distracted form the key word [here petition] by unrelated matter [how a poll works] then they may miss the point of the thread.
I'm sorry I failed to grasp the point of what you were trying to achieve because of how I interpreted what you wrote. Furthermore you should learn what a petition is before you use one.
You are using a petition in a small population. Currently you have had 89 votes from an unknown number of people from 456 views. The petition is are unlikely to gain large numbers to attain a moral force.wikipedia wrote:The petitions had no legal effect, but the signatures of millions of people on the petitions represented a moral force....
Perhaps if you had used a poll, the people viewing (a number no greater than 456) would have had an opportunity to vote no and you could have shown what proportion of voters wanted each of the two players to be reinstated.
People are ignorant. You and I are both people. Don't resist, come and join the club!
Re: Petition (poll) to reinstate olkok and smokespride
unfortunately, no such protocol has ever been promulgated...-If the correct protocal wasn't followed before both used the same IP, the site admins reserve the right to take corrective action.
the rules are seemingly made up as we go along, and that's what's irritating to the rest of us. we all have to wonder "am i next?!"
If there are some "signatures" that the mods/hunters are looking for to solidify the case that "these turns were taken by one person, not two separate ones sharing a computer" then doesn't the likelihood that a father probably TAUGHT his son some techniques of the game increase the probability that the son might play in a style/manner that he's a passable "imitation" of his dad?
does CC somehow secretly activate users' web cams, or some such, to determine true identity? if not timing, mouse clicks and keystrokes are the only evidence available to be evaluated... and a son is likely to mimic his father well in those respects. kind of like when i call my buddy and his teenage son answers, his voice always fools me into assuming my friend answered. genetics are powerful.

Exactly. This is the problem I see. Where does it stop? If you log from the same IP, where is the cutoff point? I have babysat for about 4-5 other accounts, and am the dedicated babysitter for 2 accounts whenever their user is away on holiday. On occassion I am in team games with those people. What is the option? Give their password to a third party? That hardly seems the right thing to do, it is a betrayal of trust. Play the games? Apparently that leads to a bust.scottp wrote:unfortunately, no such protocol has ever been promulgated...-If the correct protocal wasn't followed before both used the same IP, the site admins reserve the right to take corrective action.

The rules seem to be applied willy-nilly, without consistency, and the only explanation offered is "We got it right". What sort of an explanation is that? Do the staff honestly expect people to swallow that? It all just sounds like inept people covering their arses after making a foolish mistake.

Sounds familiar.e_i_pi wrote:It all just sounds like inept people covering their arses after making a foolish mistake.
Do you let your opponents know when this happens?e_i_pi wrote:On occassion I am in team games with those people.
Olkok told us that olkok and smokespride have almost the same names for their email accounts. When you look through their games, there appears to be no pattern. I can't imagine the mods making a bust without good reason. What do they know that we don't? Then why should they tell us!

It appears to many people that olkok has been busted for something that does not appear to be wrong. A rule has not been quoted that holds ground - saying 'multiple accounts' means jack shit. Two accounts bought under the same credit card could be for father and son (why would a minor have a credit card?), and two accounts logging from the same IP could be people playing from the same computer or people babysitting accounts. Because the staff have not given a reason, these are the only conclusions the community are able to come to.
So, to the community it looks like someone has been busted either for buying their kid an account, for babysitting, or for playing from the same IP (which could include public locations such as internet cafes or libraries). None of those things are against the rules. Yet now it appears that they could be. But there is no clarification on this. So essentially big brother wants us to live in fear of what could happen to our accounts at the whim of the staff.
That is why they should tell us.
Re: Petition (poll) to reinstate olkok and smokespride
or we trust they looked into all of these options, made their determination that it was not these cases, and that illegal use of the account was made, and we have to trust that judgment, which is actually what a lot of others believe. That is why they dont have to tell us. To suggest they did this as a whim, is simply irresponsible. You actually know better, and are just ignoring that, on what has become your personal crusade. I do know full well they could be making a mistake. But I also know full well they looked into it deeply and didnt make the decision lightly....youve been here too long to not know that too, and now its obvious you just will say anything to try to prove your opinion correct.e_i_pi wrote:This is why:GenuineEarlGrey wrote:Sounds familiar.e_i_pi wrote:It all just sounds like inept people covering their arses after making a foolish mistake.![]()

Im part of the community and looking at this case, and seeing them busted makes me assume that the dad was making moves for the kid. Certainly he was logging into his account. My guess based on what ive seen is that he was making moves for the kid, and not just for babysitting purposes. My guess, is that theyd only bust him for making moves. To think that a dad may very well make some moves to help out his kid is hardly a stretch. Ive seen it before in here on cases, and the dad always takes the wrap. I certainly dont know if that happened here, but I do know the hunters dont make busts for absolutely nothing, and that they looked into it, and made the best decision they could based on those facts. I know they cant share all of those facts with us.
I do hope it actually turns out that they made a mistake, but that does not mean they have, or that they owe you anything more than the best decision they could make. The fact that you cant understand or imagine the other reasons why they actually got busted, does not mean they need to be posted in my opinion. There are plenty that while regretting the verdict, still respect it because weve seen plenty of cases where people seemed innocent to many, and in fact were guilty.
The hunters simply deserve more respect than you are giving them. I believe in keeping them in check too. But since they Ive always seen them to be evenhanded and thorough in cases like this, Im willing to accept that they have continued to be so. Again, I hope they made a mistake, but they dont need to prove to anyone that they haven't. They have information we dont have, and cant have, and have made their decision based on that.

I want to send out a big thank you for all who have put in comments regarding this situation. I was informed today that both accounts are now reinstated. I look forward to playing against you all in the future.

I hope not...nor do I believe that's the case. I hope that it's just a matter of them taking a more serious look at it BECAUSE of the questioning of the community.hwhrhett wrote:eww, caving into criticism from the community??olkok wrote:I want to send out a big thank you for all who have put in comments regarding this situation. It appears more like the case was reviewed, reversing the prior decision based on the evidencehwhrhett wrote:eww, caving into criticism from the community?
and that they had no problem correcting a misunderstanding of circumstances.
