#15 Virginia Tech advances into the Sweet 16 to face #6 Oregon.
That makes the #15 seeds an astounding 8-0 through the first two rounds of this year's tournament...congrats to each of those players for making their underdog runs. Obviously, that means it was bad news to be a No. 2 seed this year, and each of them lost in the first round....ouch!!!

Looks like Duke is a few turns away from a rout against Tennessee to secure a spot in the Final 4.

All right guys...a bracket update has been posted...#15 Virginia Tech is about to advance to the Elite 8 it appears, but I'm going to start the Duke vs. Villanova Final Four matchup today. Hopefully the other side of the bracket can catch up soon.

Sorry for the delay, but hope everyone enjoyed watching the real tournament.

Now, time to toot my own horn...
In the regional breakdowns I noted UMass and Duke in the "Upset Watch" and here are both teams in the Final Four, along with my pick Villanova out of the Northeast, while my other pick UCLA is one win away in the West Region.

The amazing thing has been the #15 seeds going 8-0 in the first two rounds of the tourney...wow!!!

I'm surprised how many low seeds advanced through the tourney a couple rounds, especially with the best of 3 map format...I figured it would be more like the Northeast Region with #1 Villanova and #3 Florida facing off in the regional finale. I think some quality players just had some rough stretches in the regular season this time around.

On that note, #15 Virginia Tech holds a 59-11 lead over #6 Oregon in the second half in the West Region, while #1 Villanova is off to an early 31-21 lead over #13 Duke in one national semifinal. Coach HighlanderAttack continues his media lockout...more coming on that in the next newsletter.

Not that I think I'm a quality player, but I know this held true for me.

The ACC had 6 of my 9 opponents choosing Flat Rate games, which are basically all luck. First to a mixed set usually will win. And in the regular season, I had a rough time on all the standard Flat Rate games while doing well on the gimmicky type maps (which were few in the ACC).

Anyways. The first entrant into the championship game is coming down to the last map. Highlander and I could probably play 100 games and finish 50-50.

UCLA vs. Virginia Tech seems to be nearing a close...

and yes, reccentre I plan to do college hoops each year...next year will be year #3...also working on a record book for this tourney that carries through the seasons.
