Player Grievance Moderator or Team

Perfection. The idea is flawless, just like the name "owen". You have my vote of confidence along with my time if you want any help whatsoever. Did, I mention this idea was perfect?

Re: Player Grievance Moderator or Team
something like this would have prevented what happened between DaGip and myself (even though we have now worked it out), and possibly could have kept an entire clan from getting STACHE'D by twill... i really think this needs to be considered and looked into. had this been in place, i could have contacted the grievance moderator with my question about DaGip reposting my image coming off of a ban for flaming me and using my image with "cock muncher" as part of the flame. the grievance moderators could have easily talked to DaGip and myself and it would have been resolved. instead, i foolishly went to C&A to ask for a clarification of a rule i felt was being broken, and in doing so, caused my entire clan to be banned without warning and to garner another 24 hour ban to follow up my bogus 7 day ban. the mods on this site are doing the best they can. but when a situation arises that they do not want to deal with, issuing a ban is usually the resolution. again, a player grievance moderation team would help to ease alot of the garbage that goes on between members... the black jesus has spoken...-0
p.s.-consequently, by not dealing with the situation, it continued until myself and DaGip personally dealt with it like big boys and realized that the mods were not going to resolve whatever it was that we were into. oddly enough, we weren't really into anything at all, it was all a huge misunderstanding, and we are back on our tense but amicable tolerance of each other.

Re: Player Grievance Moderator or Team
To be honest owen, I'm actually contemplating ideas on how best to make this work, and have been for several weeks. Ironically, I talked with Twill about this at the beginning of the week. There are a lot of holes that I have to work on solutions for before I can even consider pitching it to the rest of the Team. IF it's even going to be feasible to implement.

Re: Player Grievance Moderator or Team
so you're telling everyone, that if there had been a moderator specifically chosen to see over these problems, you would have treated him with 100% respect, no matter what he decided? And the reason you couldn't do this for Twill is...?owenshooter wrote:something like this would have prevented what happened between DaGip and myself
If someone does start doing this, there's going to be a helluva lot of people bitching about what this Grievance Moderator(s) choose to do anyways. Because, in most situations, one person or more is wrong, and that one or more people deserve punishment. And they'll just bitch about it, no matter the "fairness".

Re: Player Grievance Moderator or Team
um, yes... i treated the mods with 100% respect and thanked both achilles and Night Strike for trying to find a clarification of the rule for me. that had nothing to do with what twill did to myself and my clan. go read my thread, there isn't any flaming and i ground my question based on a rule i found that i wanted clearly interpreted. a community grievance team could resolve a ton of garbage that goes on between players. again, for instance, myself and DaGip. after our duel ban, we swapped pm's like big boys, found where the misunderstanding was, and are fine with what happened and understand where the confusion came from... a community grievance moderation team would be in contact with both persons involved, not just the offender, and both would know what the outcome was/is. that is not true of the current ban system. i think it is a great idea, and i can name more than a few able minded and willing members that would be fabulous for this. yes, timminz, you are on that list. the black jesus has spoken, again...-0Kotaro wrote:so you're telling everyone, that if there had been a moderator specifically chosen to see over these problems, you would have treated him with 100% respect, no matter what he decided? How have I never seen this thread? Maybe I am always as drunk as I am now...Great thread, great idea, but make it an ANONYMOUS panel of 5 users. They vote in a separate sub forum, post their results, results stand. That stops any personal sniping against the users that help decide it.
PS This was my solution for offensive names and avatars too. But I apparently never bring anything constructive to CC.

The problem there is that you have to be in a usergroup for that hidden forum.jbrettlip wrote:... but make it an ANONYMOUS panel of 5 users.
So as soon as someone figures out which usergroup the "anonymous" group is, everyone knows who is in the group by looking at the members list.
... or is my knowledge of how that stuff works inaccurate in some way? I could have easily missed something that would fix the problem I pointed out.

Re: Player Grievance Moderator or Team
so, yet again i have seen the need for an unbiased community moderation team. received this nugget of racism within a game i was in. i reported the member in C&A and we both promptly received one week bans. me for "baiting" and him for racism.

a community moderation team is needed on this site, period. instead of looking at the problem at hand, i was immediately presumed to have caused this member to call me the most deplorable word you could call a black person. which is just absurd. were there a community moderation team. i could have gone to them, asked them to deal with the issue at hand. and they could have looked at the problem and decided what was best for the problem.
i could easily see someone like timminz or fruitcake looking at the situation and being able to diffuse the situation easily, without any bans being needed. however, if they felt a ban was needed, they could kick it up to a mod/admin. oddly enough, the admins removed a post in the game chat by nagerous, but did not deem the offensive selection i have posted above, worthy of being removed. *just shaking my head*...
i realize just how busy the mods and admins are, and i appreciate all they do. i am also one of their biggest supporters, despite my many warnings/bans (many of which are just as ridiculous as this ban i received). however, utilizing some of the forum regulars that are above 13-18 years old, and that have college educations and some life experience, is an idea that still needs to be looked into.-0

An independent OMBUDSMAN is a good idea, but would be tough job.

You've had your say, Owenshooter. No need to bring it up in every topic.
