Re: Oceania Map v6.2 [D,Gp] - New Sea! 03/07/2009 Pg1-14
I agree on the point that the name could use some spursing up, but to be honest, even though I think it could be better there is nothing wrong with the way it is just now.
THe tealish blue glow around the land is a nice colour that adds a nice effect, although I think it may be a little to prominent. I believe a small reduction in opacity would make this pleasant effect much better.
The continent names on the map are far to similar in appearence to the terr names. To be honest having the continent names on the main map seems a little redundant to make. Since the legends is colour coded with the map. Having them on the map just adds a little clutter.
Finally the white sea connections could use a little reduction in opacity. I feel this will help the main map stand out more and bring a little more into the foreground of your map.
Kudo's to pikkio and thenobodies. This is a great new map making partnership since benny and snap made new york! Your graphics stamp isn't far off now guys. Keep up the good work!

Also we decided to remove the legend square and turn back...
We like map without the "glass square", the names on sea look better and all is clear, so without a clear suggestion about we will lock the layout of legend as definitive.
Thank you for all good suggestions.
CC Members, anything else?
Can we develope the small version and start discussion about it?
Can we lock the big one?

I actually personally think the squid is a nice little touch (even though it is a little unusual).gho wrote:i liked the island and palm tree you had near the name before. The squid is nowhere near as good.

Same here. But I'd like it a bit bigger, and if you have to rotate it a little higher for a larger size to fit.gimil wrote:I actually personally think the squid is a nice little touch (even though it is a little unusual).gho wrote:i liked the island and palm tree you had near the name before. I really don't have any quarrel with the graphics now.

Pikkio already made the modifications on squid and he is agree with your suggestion.
The new version will be posted with this modification.
Now we are developing the small map, we think, when posted, that map is ready for GR stamp, we did a big graphic work in the first part of foundry and actually we think that this map respect all CC standards.
We love this layout and we decided not to add a legend box ( better solution )
In few time we will post the small version and , when posted, we will ask to gimil if the final results are good to receive the stamp and go to FF.
So people, if there's something else that you wanna suggest about graphic , we like to know your opinion now...

Re: Oceania Map v6.3 [D,Gp] - 03/08/2009 Pg1-14
the dark green for kiribas is certainly not similar to any other colour on the map. good!
see if u can think of another animal or something to put in the water to the east of new zealand.
can u change the name of east indonesia to east indies, since timor-leste is not part of indonesia?
ian.
so do i. however, does the texture form a soft square round the legend now, or is it my imagination? this goes from midway between the "s" of chatham islands and the "p" of polynesia to north-west of the "a" of australia, then across to the two little pink islands near the legend.thenobodies80 wrote:We like map without the "glass square"
if there is confusion, then we can link canterbury (christchurch) to new south wales (sydney) instead of to victoria. this is a real air route too, though i'm happy with the gameplay whether the link goes to new south wales or victoria.thenobodies80 wrote:Here we decided to do this routes. Air routes are made to do them realistic, where possible.

the kind of soft square around the legend is only a casual effect of the texture.. the lucky did better than i can did before..

Yes, that was my concern...that you would not be able to fit all those details on the small version and keep it clear.thenobodies80 wrote:We will post the small version in few days with the last modification requested on big.

Oceania Map v6.4 [D,Gp] - 03/13/2009 - Final graphic?
First of all, thank you for all suggestion and critics
This is the version 6.4
About to change an air route we happily accepted the request. Easy to do,looks better and iancanton approved.
We decided to rotate the squid and make it bigger
We added a zanclus cornutus in east waters of new zealand, suit very nice and it lives in the indo-pacific zone (zanclus cornutus) so we think it could be perfect!
East Indonesia changed in East Indies

The italicized text seems very pixely - what text mode are you using?
The animals look great.

the font is the arial narrow. it's bold, maybe is why it seems a bit pixely. but not bold it's too thin and not enough readable..the.killing.44 wrote:The italicized text seems very pixely - what text mode are you using?

Re: Oceania Map v6.4 [D,Gp] - 03/13/2009 Pg1-15
- I think we have to fix some names (pixelous):
- southland
northenterritory
canton island
whitsunday islands
- southland
- And we have to "fix" some other names (space between letters) :
- saipan
marshall islands
caroline islands
canton islands
New Caledonia
Line Islands
Wellington
Chatham Islands
- saipan
- And east indies +3 , on continents "legend" is a bit unclear...
Now that large map has sodisfy the community requests at large, we are going to focus our work on the small one.
I'll talk with pikkio and we will post a better small version in few time
Others critics or suggestions on small map?

The small is at its width capaity of 630px mate. Can I suggest making the small map slightly larger?
It strains my eyes a bit.
With the rest of the map I am happy with. I will wait to hear what ruben has to say aboutthe size before I decide wether or not to stamp it.

Ah okay I didn't realise the small map was already the largest size possible according to the CC rules.gimil wrote:The small is at its width capaity of 630px mate. Can I suggest making the small map slightly larger?

I guess it's fine then since nothing can be done at this stage.
Thanks Gimil.

The one from me - can you nudge the bonuses over 5ish px right? I know it's crazy nitpicking but it would be more balanced and not be as close to the fishygimil wrote:I have a sneaky suspision that there will be a little nit picking to come still
