Misses Turns Annoying All
I dont know about you guys but I hate when people really slow the game down by missing turns. I would like the rules changed about missed turns. I have been involed in games where people miss almost every other turn but dont get kicked because they haven't missed 3 turns in a row.
I propose that the rules change to a set amount of missed turns.
For example mabey we keep 3 missed turns but they don't need to be consecutive. As soon as you miss 3 turns you are kicked.
Also there could be an option to change the number of set turns to miss mabey from 0-10 this way people with tight schedules who may miss a few turns here and there can be in games with 10 missed turns.
And people who always take their turn on time can set the miss turn option to 0. Then if you miss 1 turn you are already kicked.
This would speed games up and keep people from missing every other turn. SLowing the games down durastically.

In a game that has been going on for a long time (100+ rounds) it would be very easy to miss those 3 turns. People have busy schedules, it would be almost impossible to avoid being kicked.mitchmitch11 wrote:

It is a good point, but it could be either you miss 3 consecutive turns, or say around 5 or 6 non-consecutive turns.wicked wrote:Agreed.wcaclimbing wrote:In a game that has been going on for a long time (100+ rounds) it would be very easy to miss those 3 turns. I agree with the problem wcaclimbing outlined. I still think there should be a non-consecutive kick limit - 5 or 6 sounds perfect, as you said. How to get around wca's problem? Just have a decay on the missed turn. If I miss a turn, it only "counts" towards my 6 missed turns for the next 20 rounds.InkL0sed wrote:It is a good point, but it could be either you miss 3 consecutive turns, or say around 5 or 6 non-consecutive turns.wicked wrote:Agreed.wcaclimbing wrote:In a game that has been going on for a long time (100+ rounds) it would be very easy to miss those 3 turns. Missing 6 turns in a 150 round game is really negligible. Nobody would have a problem with that. But missing 6 turns in a 20-round period does have a fairly large impact on the game.

I seriously think this is a good idea and a good compromise. Does anybody else agree or disagree?insomniacdude wrote:I agree with the problem wcaclimbing outlined. The introduction of a decay seems to remove the need for a higher cumulative limit.insomniacdude wrote:I agree with the problem wcaclimbing outlined. Why not keep it simple to remember and say "miss 3 consecutive turns - or 3 individual turns within a 20 round period - and you get kicked"?
If the feeling is that the balance still isn't right then tweak the number of rounds (x) - "miss 3 consecutive turns - or 3 individual turns within a x round period - and you get kicked".
And mitchmitch11 - stop bumping please. It's embarrassing. And more likely to weaken the suggestion thread than strengthen it. [edit]And your post immediately after mine is still bumping. And you know it.[/edit]

I'd love to see something along these lines...
I'm in a game right now that is in round 27... and one player has missed fully 1/4th of his turns (8 in all). Many cases he has missed 2 in a row, but never hits that magic #3... really slows the game to a crawl.
My original thinking was miss 3 in a row or 6 overall, but I agree that the 100+ round games could make that a bit harsh. So maybe 3 in a row but 5 in 25?? Or something along those lines.

I am not in favor of changing the rule, as some people need that extra freedom to play the stock market, embezel money, rob banks, etc...but i am in favor of a game option that does not allow deferred armies.

some players deadbeat when their game is hopeless
so how about doubling the number of points lost by deadbeats???
And I agree they should be kicked out after missing a total of 3 turns, not 3 in a row...

Yes i think it should be changed, Best way to stop the abuse is to not give any deferred armies to the turn misers. I am also in a game now where the guy missed two rounds then comes back just in time to stay in, drags the game out for no reason and alters game play.
Raise the limit....no lower it, miss 2 in a row your out, anybody can get a sitter for there account.

wow, what a bump ^^
back on topic: people already get punished for missing turns because they are less likely to win the game!
this is not needed.

Re: Misses Turns Annoying All
It is getting damn annoying. I wish the missed turns count stayed up after the game ended so I could show you a CC Mogul game in which Duax76 missed 12 turns in 59 rounds. Didn't start missing until he was on the ropes.

In another tournament game, the situation was such that one player had an immediate advantage, and all but one tried to take a stab at him. When he knew no one was coming for him, he missed for extra guys, then finally took his turn when two of the players were almost out, getting himself two turn ins.
If that isn't abuse of the game, I don't know what is. It is becoming more and more common in the games I play. So far the only recourse is a bad rating, but there's another rant for another thread. From what I have seen, missed turns have led to a huge advantage, and never made it less likely for them to win.

Re: Misses Turns Annoying All
I'v been banging on about this for ages. Something has to be done. If you get 2 dead beats in a game it can drag on for ages, recently in one game, a player took his/her go, missed 2 goes took another, then missed two more! Bring back the 3 missed goes in a game rule, We all miss goes, it happens, we all have a life, but I'm willing to accept that if I have missed 2 goes in a game and I miss another I will be kicked out of the game, if I really didn't want to be kicked out I would make the effort to make sure I didn't miss a third! Its not rocket science.
