The singles games have been trickling in and Chariot of Fire has lost his first game to downfall. :shock:

"Downfall" reminds me of Brazil where there is lots of rain downfall and so I have decided to do my salutations in Portugese...

So, the single games results are creeping in, but as yet there has been no movement in the table. gordito has been the most successful with 4pts out of 4 closing the gap a little bit more. =D>

I was looking through my wardrobe this morning trying to decide what to wear today when I spotted my favourite chequered pants... so in honour of those pants I have decided to do today's salutations in Czech;

Libi se mi, jak se hybat hosem ve vetru.

Not such a good time for gordito today. First he loses a 3 Player Singles game, then he gets knocked out of one of the Terminator games without scoring and then to top it all Chariot of Fire goes and wins 2pts against downfall in their second 2 Player match-up. :-s

downfall's day isn't that bad though as he won the 3 player singles game against gordito & Bigragooch. The former he catches up a little the latter he jumps over in the table - into 3rd place. =D>

There's still a long way to go, but it's looking good for Chariot of Fire. maybe things will change tomorrow. Until then...

DBandit70 is the star today. When I think of DBandit70, I think of a little mexican sporting twin 6 shooters and an oversized sombraro... :-k

Do you realise that there are only 7 games outstanding in this tournament (barring a tie for 1st place)? That means that after this there will be a maximum of only 7 more updates... makes me sad to think.

Any ways... like I said DBandit70 is the hero today. Winning a 3 Player Singles game, jumping up 2 places and beating Chariot of Fire in the process. =D>

It's all about Chariot of Fire today. I know that CoF is a reference from the Hebrew language, but in honour of the most famous charioteering nation of all time, today's salutations come to you in Latin...

Could Chariot of Fire have sealed his victory today? He won the remaining 3 Player Singles game and was part of the team that won the first of the 2 Triples games. That 5 points puts him 11 points above his nearest rivals.

Now I've strained myself with a bit of mental arithmatic and worked out the maximum points possible to win for each player (minus points gained by being on the same team as our Charioteer)... It makes grim reading I'm afraid for gordito & DBandit70, who cannot gain enough points now to catch him. It's not much better for ubcman64 & downfall who can only equal his score. That leaves Bigragooch. Now Bigragooch can get 58pts, but to do so he would have to wipe everyone off the map in the Terminator games & win all his other games. That would mean Chariot of Fire would stay on 55pts. It is all very unlikely. We near the end my friends. Until tomorrow...

A long time ago in a galaxy far away...

I completed my first tournament - The Champions League Tournament in February 2009.

Chariot of Fire lost in the Semi-Final - 72 people joined and he made the last 4. So when I sent out the call for this tournament, (as the Champions League was winding down), on the 23rd January at 14:05, it was no surprise to see that Chariot of Fire was the first to sign up at 14:20 - 15 minutes later!

Less than 24 hours after that the tournament was over-subscibed and after a further 24 hours the first games were sent out and the (Feudal) war began...

Chariot of Fire began the Round 1 steadily with a good score of 13 points - comfortable mid-table. He managed to gain points in every category except the 2 Player Singles, but he made up for that with an impressive 5pts from his first two Terminator games.

Round 2 brought an additional 16pts to his score. Again he scored well across the board and he nicely made up for his poor performance in the last rounds 2 & 3 Player Singles with an excellent 4 out of 4 in this round. 29 points so far and he was in a comfortable place just below the front runners.

Round 3 was his round. With the steady acceleration of a thorough-bred race horse on the final bend he pushed the momentum up another notch. 19 points came to him this round (twice the average) and it was just too much pressure for his closest rivals. 48pts was his total at the conclusion of the round and he had clear blue water (8pts) between him and the chasing pack (excuse the mixed metaphors please). The title was his to lose, would the pressure crack him?

For a while it seemed it might. Round 4 began with gordito closing the gap to 4pts and downfall taking points off him in the 2 Player Singles. Then DBandit70 started to close in and all Chariot of Fire could muster was a 2pt singles win... but then it happened (on April Fools Day no less 8-[

) - like a sledge hammer down upon the clay pots of everyone else's hope - 5pts in one day and 11pts ahead.

. There was only one person with an outside chance of catching him - Bigragooch. His task? To win everything left to win and get at least 5pts from his 2 Terminator games. He started well, gaining 5pts at CoF's expense, but then he was wiped out of one of the Terminator games without scoring a point by... Chariot of Fire! The game was up, the chips were down and the ship had sailed. gordito was runner-up but...

Chariot of Fire had won.

All that remained was for me to say...
