You should be able to lock your account, or "ban yourself" for a period of say up to a week.
By this I mean that the only thing you will be able to do is take your turn in your active games, and not be able to start or join any new ones, post in the forums, go to your control panel, etc.
This will improve the following aspects of the site:
Account sitting. Big plus... you just lock your account from getting into any more games or doing any other crap, then let the person take your turns. No way to abuse it.
In the odd case where your account get's hacked, you don't have to wait for a mod.
If you just want to take a break from CC and want to make sure you do it.

How many cases of account hacking are there? There was Velve, that other lame guy with Velve, and now Jeff? Not many, and what happens if somebody does hack in, and they ban the account for large time, that's bad.

It's a pretty good suggestion, so you can 'lock' your account from joining games, but you can still play games you are in. The problem I see is if someone does get in to your account, they can lock it, and screw you over, right?
No eternal reward will forgive us now for wasting the dawn.
Good idea but could become abuse in it's own Reich. Also maybe you have a password to lock your account to make it a new level that a hacker needs to hack
Consider this. In the most recent case of account abuse, Max has Jeffs password. How he obtained it is up to debate (IN THE PROPER THREAD), however, if there was a second password to lock the account, that would have solved this easily. If say, Jeff locked his account, even if Max could get into the account, he'd need the second password to beable to create games, access the inbox, or even come here to the forums.
It's a solid idea to protect everyones account against abuse and "hacking"
Lakad Matataaag!
Normalin, normalin.

But IMO you should only be able to lock your account when you have NO games active or waiting
On other sites I have seen the ability to lock yourself out of the website for various reasons, this has much promise.
One thing I would like to know however is Premium membership lasts 1 year once you've bought it. However if you locked your account for say a week, would the membership be extended for that week considering you have not used it for that long?
Would be a great addition to stop hacking/babysitting abuse.

Untrustworthy babysitters can still benefit even when one's account is "locked", because the ability to intentially play poorly or suicide in games would exist. I doubt that possibility could ever be eliminated however, so it would just be for the best to obtain a babysitter that you can trust to sit your account efficiently and safely, given the idea that accounts are hacked because of bad babysitters.
The idea of having an extended period of premium membership would not be for the good of lackattack's wallet - abusing this would mean less memberships being payed for, and people would be able to retain their premium if they have quit/don't intend on playing new games simply by "locking" every week. It's basically like getting free premium for not visiting the site!
What if you "lock" your account and then realise that your babysitter cannot sit for you, or you no longer need a babysitter? D'oh, deadbeating for a week!
Although this suggestion is decent, I believe the suggestion about having a separate password and settings for those who babysit your account is a better option. That suggestion includes coding that automatically logged in game chat who was taking the turn, locked the account out of the Control Panel (except for the Inbox), and kept the sitter from joining any non-tournament games. I don't remember where the thread is.

Okay, thanks for the many responses. I have heard and visited to all the threads of the suggestions people here have pointed out BEFORE I made this thread.
One thing I failed to point out. By locking your account, I meant a forum ban + inability to start or join games (or just the second, whichever). You will not deatbeat your active games if you have any. You can access your account, take your turns, but not really do anything. Will edit first post for clarification.
The reason I suggested it is because it does 3 things in 1:
1. Hacking, which I know is not a problem, but a positive is a positive, even if it only affects 1 person out of 300,000
2. Account sitting. Although there is a more elegant solution, this suggestion basically does the exact same thing as the other you pointed out. The account sitter uses your original password, but all the other features are the same in a lock on your account as the suggestion in the thread you linked here. The person could not start games, the person could not access the control panel, etc. Also, this way is easier to code since we already have coding for being able to lock accounts.
3. Getting away from CC just because of it. Some people just spend too much time here, and occasionally I do as well. If I have a busy week, I might as well just lock my own account so that I can only take my turns in my active games and that way I will not be tempted to come here and join an 8 man speed escalating. If you feel that you are about to point dump because of bad dice, just lock your own account until you calm down. Much easier to click one button (and a confirmation, of course).
