Have ranks adjust with point inflation

Post by InkL0sed »

Concise description:
  • Adjust the points needed to gain a certain rank according to point inflation
Specifics:
  • Every day, have the site run a formula for each rank based on the number of points on the scoreboard. For example, I believe the mean score on the site is something around Sergeant. So have the formula for Sergeant be the average score, and base the other scores around that one. Or the formula could perhaps be more complicated, depending on what is most fitting. Maybe have the score for Field Marshal be the average of the top five or ten players on the scoreboard, and then set the scores accordingly. There are all kinds of possibilities here.
This will improve the following aspects of the site:
  • Point inflation is no longer a problem, and the percent of people with certain ranks will stay the same.

Point inflation is a problem in that since it happens, those who want to be on top need to find new methods for getting higher: the only one being farming since you would have to be way better than anyone on CC to get that high.

I fail to see how the cutoff being at 3000 for colonel or 2500 affects anything. Sure, I might be a major or whatever, but my score remains the same and my relative rank does as well.

Exactly. If CC wants to tackle the problem of points inflation, they need to change the scoring system that rewards farming of the unskilled under certain map settings. They just keep gaining and gaining points off unskilled teams.
