have lost way too many games and way too much of my score due to the opposition starting with bonuses....would really help if it were fixed somehow. i know it needs to be random and all but theres gotta be something that can be done that can prevent this from happening.

I'd like to add to this discussion by mentioning that larger maps (in terms of number of territories) should have more neutral armies in 1v1 games. There is an understood benefit to going first when playing any map against any number of opponents, but it is especially clear when playing 1v1 on some of the larger maps. If the number of neutral armies can be increased, this would decrease the likelihood that a winner is determined merely by order of play as opposed to strategy or luck.
