Hopefully soon, but he's got five days from when I sent the PM out. So he's still got a great deal of time before he gets subbed-out.bayou wrote:When is my opponent supposed to show? I'm still waiting.

1-0 ... who's next?
Re: The Evolutionary Tournament (FULL!)
Just a quick update on our two MIA's (rkelly1 and fnapo). They are both freemiums and both are currently in four active games. I am still going to give them the allotted five days (though I'm very disappointed they didn't keep a slot open nor has either even bothered to reply to my PM to them), but it is now quite likely in my opinion that they will be replaced. They currently have a little more than two days to get in.
So...duax76 and para, be prepared.

Bayou and chemefreak are jealous...you've played two games and their first-round opponents haven't even shown up yet (though they don't have too much longer to wait).Funkelee wrote: Ha.

Speaking of which, thank you everyone else for showing up very quickly. I'm very impressed with the other 30 of you. You're making things go very well, and I do appreciate it.
Re: The Evolutionary Tournament (Updated 19 Jan 09)
rkelly is officially dropped from the tournament and he is replaced by the first alternate - duax76.
Welcome, duax76.

An Evolutionary Tournament II
Hey folks, if you're interested in another tournament similar to this one, I've started another (with 64 players this time!). Go to the "Join A Game" forum and look it up under "An Evolutionary Tournament".
Re: The Evolutionary Tournament (Updated 26 Jan 09)
Heh...you're doing too much of the kicking ass and not enough of the taking names! <laughing> Basically, you're sitting in the semi-finals of the A Bracket waiting for someone else to catch up.Gilligan wrote:Any word on when the next round starts?
The pairing that you'll play the winner of is Mustapha Mond and the winner of whatreality/risinghero. So as soon as those two play, Mustapha Mond will get them and you'll get the winner of that.
Right now, we've got five of the top 8 in Bracket A filled up, although that includes Funkelee whom you already dispatched.

Re: An Evolutionary Tournament II
Only three "active" spots left open in that tourney - it looks to be HIGHLY competitive, with some of the highest-point-owners on the site in it. If you like competition, that is the place to be! the most unbalanced start ever:
game 4241517
sure, go first with a 5-army bonus...
that's fair

Re: The Evolutionary Tournament (Updated 11 Feb 09)
and how is it i'm playing someone who's already played 5 rounds?
i can't possibly imagine how the bracket works that pits someone who's played 3 rounds versus someone who's played 5 rounds...

Particularly rough when you're playing one of the top players in the tournament. That was a brutal drop for you, no doubt.GeneralAnestetic wrote:the most unbalanced start ever:

Re: The Evolutionary Tournament (Updated 11 Feb 09)
Sure, it's simple. Gilligan made it to the finals of Bracket A (which gave him his five games). With that loss in the finals, he dropped down to the third round of Bracket B (he got byes in the first two rounds of Bracket B for his Bracket A wins), where you had the misfortune of facing him. Two rounds of byes is the most that can be gained, and those are done to keep the brackets as even as possible while also giving some benefit to those who do well in previous brackets.GeneralAnestetic wrote:and how is it i'm playing someone who's already played 5 rounds?

This is really a very common thing done in wrestling tournaments throughout the nation (high school and college-level).
The only way the "rounds" would work out evenly would be if I had Gilligan get byes all the way to the finals of Bracket B, and that just doesn't make sense. Not to mention it would extend the brackets enormously.
The same thing has happened with you in Bracket C. Due to your making it to the third round of Bracket B before losing, you start out in the second round of Bracket C (the game will be coming to you in PM momentarily).
