But you decrease the total time from 5 minutes down to 1 minute. So there would be no more waiting, and time only gets added onto the clock when people are actually playing...That's what I'm suggesting at least.KoE_Sirius wrote:I cant say YES or NO.Part of your idea is good(the decreasing time part). The other part is bad.
In a freestyle game the clock at 5 minutes is to long. I do not think it should increase at all.I already think its bad that the clock increases by 3 mins everytime you eliminate someone. To increase it even by 1 second per move would be bad.
Any more than 5 minutes will dramatically increase deatbeatingsailorseal wrote:I think maybe when you select to make a speed game there is a 5 minute option, a 10 minute option and a 15 minute option. That way they are still all speed games but the time can vary.

make it a 1,2,3,...,8 and everyone is happysailorseal wrote:I think maybe when you select to make a speed game there is a 5 minute option, a 10 minute option and a 15 minute option. That way they are still all speed games but the time can vary.

only if they can fort within a second, but i get your pointAceArtemis wrote:What about unlimited fortifications? Wouldn't players then have unlimited time as long as they move troops back and forth between two territories?

this has one weakness in most case you wudnt see but. The weakness is this, some speeders plays more than 1 speed games, maybe 5 or more. Then you wud have to wait such player's all other game turns end then go back to the game you and that player in. I dont know if it wud be confronted frequently but a weakness it seemeed to me.Timminz wrote:Variations on this idea have been suggested numerous times already, and shot down each time.
personally, I was a fan of one suggestion that involved having a button to add time to a turn, when needed. People could use it when they need more time, but if you're not there to click the button, your turn ends in 5 minutes still.
Have you ever played multiple games on table??? It's equivalent to real life, just like chess, but how many players play multis in real life??? You can count them on both of your hand not more, and I'm just guessing you ain't one of them (otherwise you should be playing chess right nowegri_bikaver wrote: "....Speed games are the equivalent of having everyone sitting around the table (present at their computers) with the intent of focusing on the game in one sitting..."

Seconds could be added to the clock after certains actons.
Some of you may be thinking, "10 min is great but i dont want to sit for that long when somone deadbeats". Neither do I! Why not start the time when its the players turn, and then add time to the clock (say 15-30 sec) whenever they complete an action? Whenever you deploy troops, whenever you attack a territory, whenever you fortify, whenever you cash in cards. All these actions would add seconds back to the, "shot clock" so to speak, up to the original time of the timer. The timer still encourages fast play, but is flexible enough to allow for some extra thinking if the need arises.
Think about it, you could have 2 minute games that move along quickly even with deadbeats (you only wait for two min instead of 5). And as long as you are taking your turn you never really are in danger of running out of time. And for the more relaxed speed game, I think we're all happy to wait, if someone is actually thinking and actively playing the game.
Anyone with me?!
