Best way to get a tourney filled

I'm organizing a tournament for the first time (shameless plug and link in my sig ), and I'm wondering if anyone has some advice on what the best way is to get it filled. Yes, I just posted the link on Friday and perhaps I'm growing a little impatient too early, but my sense is that tourneys that don't get off the ground right away never fill. So, any suggestions would be appreciated!

Give it a week or two to fill. It takes time for new organisers to get their tournaments full. If by that time you can't get it full, start to worry a bit. Post link of it to your clan/usergroups, send invites to people in your friend list. Look up random people from scoreboard and people who are playing in other similar tournaments, send invites to them. Ask help from an experienced organiser who has notification list, maybe he/she can give you some names to message. Sometimes I've used to post link to games, especially in speed games. I think that's all I can suggest.

I always look at 'abandoned' for recent comparable tournaments (since I don't organize 1v1 I skip those).

Send a nice invitation to all people reacted on that abandoned including the organizer and offering my tournament as a potentional replacement. Approx 20% of those people will respond possitive. Up to now I did get in total one negative response (of the original organizer who left), but also another organizer joined.
Keep in mind that 20% to prevent a too many people joining. So if needed cut the number of people down, but always put explicitly the organizer in the send list and better mention that in the invite as well.

I always hope that I help the people who joined the original tournament stay possitive about tournaments.

Thanks to everyone for the advice. I'll probably wait a little longer before actively trolling for more players, as I've been getting at least 1 signup a day over the last couple of days (slow but steady wins the race!), but I will definitely take your comments into account. I've already done some of these--sent something to the newsletter, and did post something to my clan forum (unfortunately, my clan is all but dead at this point and most of the few people left don't play tourneys). Random / not-so-random private messages will probably follow in a few days.

As long as I'm at it, anyone reading this thread interested in joining the tourney?
