New/different "moved" icons

Post by the.killing.44 »

Concise description:
  • create a new moved thread icon that shows whether the thread has been moved to or from a different forum/subforum
Specifics:
  • have a second arrow like > (but 45° angle) for exported thread and > (but 135°)
I will put a photoshopped photo as an example up later
This will improve the following aspects of the site:
  • clearer "moved" = less confusion

When a thread is moved, it is always moved to another forum.

CC simply updates their forums to the newest phpBB, they do not actually make any changes themselves. Another company does that.

It's not a company, it's a community. And it's pretty easy to make changes to it.

Thanks for the technical correction, but the point is still that this should be suggested there and not here.

This isn't big enough. It would just be a slight mod to the forum page, probably an extra variable or two in the database...

Nah, this is a styles related question, and since lack made the style (add that to the list of things lack actually did) then the suggestion goes here.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by the suggestion though, maybe an example would help.

I think what he's saying is what he wants is an icon for the shadow topic (the topic in the forum it was originally in) and an icon for the new topic location, that's both different from a regular icon and the shadow topic icon.

One for each forum the post could be moved to? (eg. post moved to GD, it gets a moved arrow with GD on it) Or are you just saying that you think the images could be improved? Or are you saying something totally different. :-s :-s

It sounded like one img in the forum it was moved from and another in the forum it was moved to (IIRC this isn't shown atm).

Personally I don't see the use for a thread to be left in the "from" forum at all (and thus also negating the need for a added img) but I guess it is wanted by some.

The from forum needs the shadow so people can find where the thread is now.

It's just so people don't create duplicate threads because they think "OMG, MY THREAD ISN'T THERE...MUST RECREATE!". The shadow thread's are (generally) deleted in 3-7 days, though.
