Re: the longest thread, thread - Occasionally NSFW
It's time for strike's question of the day.
For today's question I ask
Whatever happened to Carl Elwes? He was in Princess Bride and Robin Hood: Men in Tights and then seemed to disappear. Was he in another movie I'm not aware of or did he just vanish without a trace?
Now it's time for strike's movie of the day.
For today's movie I have chosen not to honor the big arrival of The Dark Knight but rather to instead congraulate I Am Legend making its HBO premiere this week.
This will probably the last time I do two of these in one post. I plan to have a special New Years edition where I name my most interesting person(s) of 2008.

In related talk, is this a good idea to do it every day?

Amazing. Now to get to the topic of flying mushroom cakes.

I'm a Will Smith fan, but this (and I.Robot too)took a timeless SF classic with a decent plot and stuck sceenwriters up its rear end until it died of anal bleeding, replacing the plot with a bunch of pointless, inconsistent nonsense with more holes than a string vest.
Why buy the rights to a story so that you can throw it away?
Holllywood seems particularly prone to doing this with SF.

I never read the story so I'm not sure but I did find it entertaining.

Well, they might as well have taken The Incredible Shrinking Man (another boook by the same author) and had him get bigger and bigger.

Why does that remind me of the new Brad Pitt movie?

On a related note, I'll be seeing The Day The Earth Stood Still this evening, which apparently sucks.

TDTESS wasn't as bad as the critics said. Just lots of wasted potential.
It seemed to me to be The Day America Stood Still. Hardly any globalisation in there at all.
Damn yanks.
