Our club has definitely come a long way since I sent the launch email to my friends and family one year ago today. I am so pleased to see 8000 active members on the scoreboard, 136000 games played, 8500 topics in the forum . The game has improved so much over the past twelve months. The community is vibrant. I've met a lot of great people, too.

We have a good foundation to take us forward in 2007. Unfortunately, the next update is going much slower than expected and I haven't finished it during the holiday season as hoped. But rest assured that I won't rest until it's ready. With a full-time job it has been hard to find enough time to program CC while maintaining a social life and doing my chores. Thank heavens for our moderators and all those who help out - officially or not! Still, I feel that I'm holding us back with the to-do list long enough to keep me busy until 2008 (and growing). My new year's resolution is to find a way to get updates done more often. Actually, I already know what needs to be done... I just have to do it

So that's my "throne speech". Andy also has a reflective birthday poem in the works, keep an eye out for it.

I hope that Y2 brings all of us hours of quality world domination entertainment (it is just a game, remember?) and may 2007 be a year of happiness, health and prosperity for all members.

A Conquer Club Year in Review

And as 2006 dwindles in days
The members of Conquer Club are left in amaze,
At what a year we’ve all shared and had
From joyous glad to livid mad.

January brought the beginnings
Of hard fought losings and winnings,
Dear Lackattack had quite an ambition
To start an epidemic gaming tradition,
But not long after the start
Did players as deadbeats depart,

February brought the ‘solving’ Auto-kick
Speeding the pace from snail to quick,
Surrender also no longer a choice
And Dugcarr1 joined to become a familiar voice,
This month also prompted a new set of dice
And Premium Membership at a reasonable price,

March brought the valuable greasemonkey script
‘Oh how long we’ve waited!’ the community quipped,
Users couldn’t get enough of the data and information
Card counts, redemption value, status indicators—what a sensation,
A hero and near-god for many
Tr0y didn’t even demand any pretty penny,

April brought the wondrous ignore list
A handy feature everyone couldn’t resist,
And in the Off Topics 'The Longest Thread' set off
‘What a lofty goal’ many users scoffed,
On the scoreboard kusunoki and weidsun rose
Who would’ve thought multis of those foes?

May brought the new Community Manager position
Twill became an infamous unique politician,
Grievances also reared its ugly head
Much to the community’s dismay and dread,
In the Foundry the Foreman oversaw cartography
And ‘Logic Dictates God’ became an amusing potpourri,

June brought the ‘Ooops’ of Lack
And after a prompt forehead smack,
Grievances departed and Feedback replaced
On the Mod Squad arrived a few face,
Moz976 agreed to help out on the forum and boards
Answering the newbie questions in intolerable hoards,

July brought the spectacular increase in features
Deadbeat team players became one creature,
Terminator games debuted
The heated ‘Stache Vs Twill feud went crude,
Alstergen became the first Conquer Club gen
And Wicked added female touch to Mod Squad of men,

August brought the famous first Battle Royal fight
Thanks to Death To All it brought much delight,
As did the Anonymous Benny
Though poor stevegriffiths23 departed with his plenty,
Scarus became a member of the Mod crew
And Highborn was chosen as Tourney Director guru,

September brought the interim Gabbly Chat
And the speedy Auto-Attack combat,
Visual dice appeared
AK_iceman became Tourney Director with much cheer,
And Hendy self proclaimed himself as ‘The Flame King’
Much to the communities amusement—it had a ring,

October brought the voice to people around world
As International Forums were unfurled,
Twill resigned and a new Zoo Keeper filled the place
But not before Twill’s Forum Guidelines became a loving last embrace,
Country flags appeared on scoreboard so we finally could see
Where all the players resided and be,

November brought the landmark 100,000th game
Filled with many top player names,
And ConquerTell allowed addicts to check turn goes
Of themselves, friends, and even those foes,
Scarus followed suit of Twill and retired
But new multi hunters were soon hired,

December brought the addition of Hugh.G.Rection
To the Tournament area with interesting name and direction,
The long awaited World 2.0 finally met its Quench
And the community couldn’t wait to battle in many trench,
And rumors of Lack’s next big update rose and filled the air
Everyone wondered and guessed what it would bare,

And as 2006 dwindles in days
The members of Conquer Club are left in amaze,
At what a year we’ve all had but the real question remains
‘What will 2007 have in store, what will it contain,’
Only in time will the desired answers be revealed
The only sure fact is Conquer Club will push forward and never yield!

Inspired by CC I tried many internet games this year... For many I "deadbeated" in the first day... for a few I played some weeks. This one is the single I still play and since February (although I still prefer the old teams rules )
