I believe ZoneAlarm Pro is just a software firewall and anti-spyware. I've heard it's not good to run two anti-virus programs at once, and it's ok to run multiple anti-spyware programs, I don't know for sure about multiple firewall's, but I would assume it's not recommended.
So if your Norton is ant-virus only, I'd say give this a shot. But otherwise, like you said, I wouldn't want to screw it up. I'm no expert though.
However, that's not to say you can't download the software now for free and then try it when your Norton license expires.
