I agree. Tournaments add a completely new dimension to the game. I strongly recommend you to join a tournament!

This has worked for me before, on other game sites.Nikolai wrote:Challenge people. I had a great time when I called out Marvaddin back when he was one of the top dogs.
Although, rather than publicly calling them out, I found it enjoyable to play someone who was better than me several times over, until I could beat them.
1) Made me a much better player
2) Each win was a great event
3) Each loss was meaningful because I could look to see what I did wrong
4) I got to know some great people
Or, why not get involved with other aspects of the site? Running a tournament is easy enough.

I would advise playing 3 man freestyle games on a map where you start with 5 deployment or more. The settings should be foggy adj forts and esc cards.I would never play flat rate or no card games.I have but just if your looking for best percentage of win it's esc.

Don't listen to Jeff he is an idiot and only plays team games. The reason you use cards (esc) is in-case they start to focus or tag team you.Obviously Jeff knows that you could not stand a chance in a 3 man game if you get double teamed which will happen 1/7 games roughly.Escalating cards on such a big map should let you hang around for high cashes. How would you make a come back in a no card game Jeff?!

Re: I'm starting to see why people...
My problem with escalating is this: since card sets quickly become worth well over 50 armies, continents become worthless. Why bother defending a bonus of 4 armies per turn, when every 3 turns you're getting 80 armies? Since continents are worthless, the map itself becomes very insignificant -- an escalating game doesn't change much on most maps. There's really no difference between an escalating game on Classic and an escalating game on Brazil.Prankcall wrote:Don't listen to Jeff he is an idiot and only plays team games.
The escalating game is less about fortifying your position, and is all about timing your cashes. I like to play on the map itself, not just with cards, so I don't play esc.

Re: I'm starting to see why people...
This is not a issue.Cards will only reach that high in a 3 man game on a big map if the players have been keeping the balance of the game.Which is very rare. For some reason I cannot find my numbers using Map rank, however using Game Finder I have played (62)3 player Terminator Freestyle Speed Escalating Adj FoW games winning roughly 45.This is a very winnable setting. Also take in the fact of my Rank and it being Terminator should say its very winnable.
