Tournament penalty
I think there should be a penalty for people who dont join their tournament games.

Re: Tournament penalty
Like what? Kick them out of the tournament? Organizers already do that on a regular basis.

Re: Tournament penalty
Interesting idea, but it would be a pain to moderate unless the sign-ups were automated it would take a lot of effort.

Re: Tournament penalty
I'm not sure if they have one, but maybe something like a wall of shame of tournament deadbeats in the Tourny Organizers group?

Re: Tournament penalty
We do, but not all organizers are in the group. Some TOs have organized one or 2 and are members others have organized loads and are not.

Re: Tournament penalty
Yes like the policy of abondened tournaments or the wall of shame and if they have 5 missed tournament games the tournament organizers dont have to let them into the tourney.
Re: Tournament penalty
How about a blacklist or just a warning that this player is a serial quitter of playing tournaments or serial failer of abandoning tournaments. Then again, I've dropped out of tournaments in the past for various reasons, normally if I have overloaded myself or when I go travelling, as tournaments can last a while.

Re: Tournament penalty
I think that every organiser can keep their own "list" of deabeats and be extra careful with accepting those players to tournament. Also, most of the time when player deadbeats then it's because he has either left the site forever or for a longer period so the so called wall of shame won't matter much. And if a person really had a reason to deadbeat the tournament (illness, weather catastrophes etc) then he doesn't deserve to be on the wall IMO.
I'd say that no need to make things too complicated and strict, we're still here to have fun and sometimes dropping out just happens. I thing more stress should be put to the fact that if people do drop out then they would let the organiser know about it, instead of just going missing in action as I believe that most of the time dropping out of the tournament has a reason.
Anyway, deadbeats get their punishment by missing out some great tournaments
One more thing I'd like to add - if a person has severe problems with people dropping out then the organiser should think what he/she is doing wrong because no properly ran tournament will have problems that TO can't solve with a reserve or two.

Re: Tournament penalty
As long as you say something about you dropping out and not just dissapear without a word is fine and yes maybe a blacklist.

Re: Tournament penalty
I don't think there is ever going to be an official black list system or anything added to Conquer Club. It's up to the tournament organizers to determine how they want to approach deadbeat tournament players individually. Some organizers keep a list, some just don't worry about it and always have reserves just in case.
Having a black list is only going to be discouraging to those who somehow wind up on it.
There isn't a way to regulate this type of thing and so therefore you can't go making an official type of system.

Re: Tournament penalty
You're probably right, the only advantage to a system would be to get rid of trolls but to be honest I've never really seen any trollish behaviour in the tournament forums, it seems like a safe haven from it actually.

thats because we keep the tourny forums nice and tidy, all with good happy feelingsnagerous wrote:You're probably right, the only advantage to a system would be to get rid of trolls but to be honest I've never really seen any trollish behaviour in the tournament forums, it seems like a safe haven from it actually.
as for the blacklist, I say nay, amazzony had alot of very good true reasons that i back up... If someone deadbeats from a tourny, and its in the first round, no big deal, reserves fix that, and if its in later rounds, its MUCH more rare, and there is usually a good reason. I dont keep any sort of list what so ever
