Re: General congratulations

Postby Fruitcake on Sun Sep 14, 2008 12:29 pm

So yet another week passes in the big wide world. Freddie and Fannie finally ran for cover with the Fed, a bunch of senior management found themselves out of a job (but still get to keep the assets they assimilated during their tenure, whilst others have literally lost the shirts off their backs, I note). The property prices in USA and UK continue their reasonable impression of the Grouse I shot last weekend, and this week I spent a full day watching the Lord of the Rings trilogy from beginning to end whilst enjoying a couple of bottles of some particularly interesting Warreā€™s 1963 Vintage Port I forgot I had! Thatā€™ll teach me for not going into the darker parts of the Cellar.

First off, and something of an aside, I must congratulate my new Publishers for popping some hard earned into my accountā€¦for the first time! Not one of these esteemed institutions would touch my book before, so I published it myself, hawked it around the bookstores on sale or return, then apparently it was bought by an agent, and he got the deal I now haveā€¦.further proof of the old saying, ā€˜Never give up!ā€™

But more importantly what has been happening in the cruel world of cc this week?

Well, something I have noticed recently is the rash of new avatars by some of the ladies amongst us. Is it me, or have some of them gone from angelic in style to somewhat dark and mischievous? Not that this writer is complaining of courseā€¦.keep up the good work ladies, they certainly brighten my darker days of which there are plenty!! (Especially you Clapperā€¦you little sweetie).

Another thing I have noticed recently is how the list of top ranks just keeps getting longer. Not so long ago I counted 45 Brigs and a total of 50 players only with that rank or above. A quick glance at said scoreboard now shows no less than 68 players with the Brig rank or above! Further investigation shows the list of ā€˜farmersā€™ and ā€˜cheatersā€™ is growing alongside this. Perhaps we should have an alltime top scores board without the cheats....oh yes of course, we already do, but more of that later.

Roaming around the GD this week I notice a year+ old thread resurrected called simply ā€˜Premiumā€™. I also notice the OP is still showing as a freemium, so no takers there it seemsā€¦.any way, where was I? Oh yesā€¦..well this thread has recently had a post by another freemium called ā€˜Stuporā€™, something I am on close terms with, especially after a few bottles of the vintage stuff. So anyway our Stupā€™ writes:

Went and had a look around on paypal to try and figure it out. So, as i understand you can pay (without entering any card info in) by:

- Transferring funds from your bank account to your online paypal account.
- Then using the funds in the paypal account to pay for it rather than a credit card.

I figured this to be true as when i go to pay using paypal the 1st thing it says is:
"This transaction amount is greater than your available PayPal balance. To complete purchase, please add a credit or debit card."
(i have not transferred anything to my account yet)
So my guess is if i did it would have an option to do it that way there as well as by card, yes?

Is this true or am i am idiot?

I assume you are being rhetorical there Stup?

Another interesting post I stumbled over was from the thread titled:

Thoughts on truce in a 3 person game?
A member going by the name of glide says:

Mr Changsta: I would consider that dishonorable tactics, and lump the player who did that along with the cowards that declare a truce in a 3 man game. When I was a corporal about 18 months ago, I played my last 3 person game for that reason. I played against a major and a captain, and they declared a truce early in the game when I began to show signs of not being easy enough for them to beat honorably. I laughed at them in the game chat, posted about them in forums, and then put them both on my ignore list after leaving them appropriate feedback. Cowards are cowards. Period.

Come on glideā€¦.name and shame!!! Dish the Dirt!!! Tell us who they wereā€¦.I canā€™t be bothered searchingā€¦.

Talking about dishing the dirt (something I never do as you well know dear reader), I see our Scottie has come under fire once more, this time with none other than Failed Integer. Oh Scottie, whatever have you done now?

First up, we had an eloquent entry from a freemium Major by the name of Nin3r1989, he says:
Scott-land and fabledintegral are clearly cheaters. fabledintegral always kisses his ass i highly doubt they are good frends.

Hmmmmā€¦the mind boggles at what you would do if some one was good friend Ninnyā€¦any way, moving on, his diatribe continuesā€¦.
ive been on this site for over a year, yes ive been busted and thats why through my large knowledge about both of them i know that they play together but are fuckin friends or something cheating.

Ahhh, so you have previous but you are so obviously a reformed character, and also someone in the know eh old son. This must be so as you then sayā€¦
fabledintegral is from uc irvine i know that cuz i got inside information
.
Would this have something to do with the first part of your postā€¦.on reflection, letā€™s not go there. However, the next part really did have the tears of laughter running down my cheeks (ā€¦a poor use of phrase .Ed)
BAN HIM FOR LIFE or u wont see the end of me i promise u that u fucking cumface moderators who sucked on fabledintegral and scott's 2 cm peepees. go to hell

Now, I am sorry, but ā€˜peepeeā€™? After showing us all some serious bad language, you end with ā€˜peepeeā€™?
I kind of lost interest after thatā€¦.boy what a let down!

I see that old bad boy max trying to get into the lists of our fav. Antihero JR got nowhere.
After posting this:
YAY, I passed prank

maxatstuy 4049 730 608 (83%) General General 4.7 United States United States

All he got in response was:
true...but he dint cheat

You have got two hopes Max, no hope and Bob Hopeā€¦and as far as I know, Bob Hope is dead. I keep telling you all; JR is a hard man to convince once he has seen the evidence.

On the subject of no hope, I notice a new member by Creep talk got a mention in Cheating and abuse for Severe Racism. Now I am not going to comment on this part, because what actually interested me was how the thread actually panned out. Out of nowhere the thread was closed. Why? Because Creepy, it transpires, was busted for multiple accounts along with Gypsy Pants! Oh dear creepyā€¦and thereā€™s me giving you a walk on part in my thread ā€˜Freemiums & their constant nagging for 'RT', the real storyā€™

Farewell, it seems, to a Brig by the name of waynemgough. By the tone of his thread, it seems he has decided to go cold turkey and leave. Not that I am particularly interested you understand dear reader. I was more amused by his afterthought which read:
ps sorry to everybody I've insulted..

Well thank you Wayne, it is nice to know you hold your apologies of such high importance, I will accept these mere morsels on behalf of anyone you have insulted and distribute the crumbs of comfort. So all of you who were insulted (and there must be some) please accept these few words as just about all you are going to get.

Now whilst I was supping on a particularly nice glass of the Vintage stuff, I browsed the top players list. Reason being, what with all the nonsense recently about our sometimes Conq. Scotty, Brucie et al, I wonderedā€¦..what do people really say about them in the new super duper feedback/ratings system. So for your delectation dear reader, here are a few classics:
First upā€¦our Scotty (how could this be complete without him!):
Tags: Quick, Backstabber, Reckless, Cheap Tactics
Tags: Slow, Rude, Clueless, Poor Strategy

Next. The erstwhile waynemgough
Tags: Rude, Quitter, Follower, Poor Strategy
Now the last I am going to mention is our Brucie. I just loved this rating:
Tags: Clueless, Good Strategy
Ok, Iā€™ll go with that, whatever it means.

Before I go, I must mention those two old foes of the forum, Owenshooter andā€¦.yes, you know whoā€¦.Paradice. Whilst wandering down in the oddly named ā€˜the (not yet) Bannedā€™ forum I happened across a thread called ā€˜62 secondsā€™. Now this quickened my interest as it kind of matched the time taken from kiss to cigarette for most of the guys I know if they are truthful. However, this was not about that subject we donā€™t talk about in front of the childrenā€¦.no, this wasā€¦oddlyā€¦about the time taken by paradice taking a leak. Now this had me reaching for the Armagnac I can tell youā€¦Port not being strong enough for the shock. I meanā€¦.is it me, or am I abnormal? If all I took was 62 seconds, I would be worried! So, moving on swiftly, I was amused by a post by a regular on this thread Timminz who said:
At least this pissing contest, is actually a pissing contest.

Had me chortling I can tell you. What had me in even more laughter was the post from richardgarr who said:
I once managed to empty half my bladder onto another guys leg, b4 he noticed.

( I also won the spontaneous race that resulted from said incident)

Nice one Richardā€¦.however, one does wonder if you ran 'au natural' so to speak.

So anyway, our Parry stepped back in with the retort:
you can't honestly think i'm actually bragging...

Phewā€¦glad about that! But then after another quick jab from Sentinel XIV, Parry responded furtherā€¦.
Why would I brag about being able to piss for 62 seconds...that just means that I didn't have the opportunity all day at school and it was very painful.

Painful??????????.........Parry, I just have to tell you, when I was at school, we would, on regular occasions, set fire to each others hair, jab sharpened compass needles in each others necks and cheeks (a great little trick I recall with fondnessā€¦Carefully place the needle near to, but not on, the cheek of the guy sitting in front, with his back to you. Then talk to him mentioning his name and watch, with much amusement and mirth, at his shock, pain and horror as he turns to respond and gets a point through that cheek), other games would include placing angry wasps in a guys bed (yes dear reader I went to Boarding School), and quite a few other interesting pursuits we indulged in, all in the name of character buildingā€¦..so back to this interesting thread before I start soliloquising too muchā€¦.
ā€¦..Our Parry reacted to Sentinals response with much vehemence, so in came Owen, never missing the opportunity to jab that virtual compass needle inā€¦.fortunately my favourite Mod Clapper locked it before the whole thing got completely out of hand.

Well thatā€™s about it from FC towers this week dear reader, I have much to doā€¦hopefully a new Houseguest arrives soon, so the Servants need whipping to ensure the guest suite is aired and dusted before they arrive, but before I go I must mention this:

The quote of the week has just got to go to b.k.barunt, with a natty little piece of inside information. I was agog when he wrote.

I tried to put myself on my ignore list once, and was astounded at the profound answer i received - "You Cannot Ignore Yourself". Shades of Kahil Gibran.

Errā€¦I ignore myself all the time!

First off, congratulations on the great write-up, Fruit. Well done.

And, as I've been reading JR24's "The 12 Step Guide to Tooting Your Own Horn" (which includes a great foreword by the omnipresent ParadiceCity9), I'd like to congratulate myself for two "achievements" that I... uh... achieved this past week. First and foremost, I finally gained mention in Fruitcake's weekly round-up. Many a CC'er has ridden to the top of the forum ladder on the coattails of CC's top scribe. Lackattack willing, I'll be the next. Second, and this one is a little more personal, I've finally broken away from the dread of the upper ranks. That's right, I'm no longer a three-striper. And, while I still have a way to go before I achieve my goal of 2500 points, I'm still fairly proud of myself. I know, points don't mean a thing, but I'm still pretty happy.

Now, tune in next week when I congratulate myself on rejoining the land of the triple bar folk.

This must either be a true epic or you have entered into a gentle, yet passionate affair with your Czech maid. All literary expression exhausted in the construction of Slavic love poems!

If it is the Latter.. may i offer my sincere congratulations!

Congratulations to freddieparrot (Major)

Postby Fruitcake on Tue Oct 14, 2008 7:01 am

When freddie first hooked up with me he was a lowly Corporal. He asked if we could play on the same team so he could learn. I naturally responded by asking why me?

Joking apart, he has steadily risen through the ranks, recently cutting it in the top 1000 players. Now with his majority firmly in his grasp it's next stop Colonel.

Well done freddie!
