I think I posted this idea earlier in this thread, if not it was a similar thread:
change "before they play" to "before they have the opportunity to play". This means that any freestyle game, people still lose points, since they had the opportunity to play once the game started, but the eighth player to play in a quads sequential game would not lose points if eliminated before his/her first turn. Not sure how to adjust the points transfer calculation, but that is still up for debate if this happens.
[SCSY] No points lost for players killed before they play

Thanks lance. I revorded the first post and the post title. Tell me if that fits better the idea.
Re: No loss of points for players killed before their 1st turn
Ok, it's not chess. But is the same as saying "if you don't want luck play chess".Stroop wrote:If you don't want luck then play Stratego.
I already said. A bit of luck is good. It spices up the game, makes it less impredictable and gives more fun. Too much luck is not good.
Yes, thanks to lance post now I see this does not make sense in Freestyle. But I still believe it makes all sense for sequential.
Re: No loss of points for players killed before they can play
You only quoted the part of my post where I wasn't being serious
Alright, for sequential the same still goes in my opinion. If you join a game with so many players that you'll start with only a couple of terits, you run the risk of playing last and possibly losing before you get the chance to play. I almost never create Sequential games in which a player starts with less than 6 terits, because I think any lower starts to get on the lucky side.
So again I say, a warning might keep people who are unaware from getting a nasty surprise (in the form of losing some points
), but don't make it so that they don't lose points because they never got to play in a game they wanted to join themselves.

Ops sorry! I didn't realize it was a funny comment. I apologize for having misunderstood it.Stroop wrote:You only quoted the part of my post where I wasn't being serious![]()
Well, if a warning serves the purpose of preventing unexperienced players from playing roulete with their points, that might be enough and a good compromise for not changing the game rules too much. It would be good if new players didn't have to learn the hard way that playing 8 players Doodle/Luxembourg is a very risky option.
It should be a big warning, visible enough for players to see it, and could have "Don't tell me again" checkbox so risky players didn't have to see it each time if they didn't want to.
Re: No loss of points for players killed before their 1st turn
Isn't that just an awful idea? This would cause teammates to not want to give their last player extra armies so that they lose less points. Being eliminated in Quads is easily preventable if you have good teammates.lancehoch wrote:I think I posted this idea earlier in this thread, if not it was a similar thread:

Re: No loss of points for players killed before they can play
it is quite simple really, there are only a few types of gameplay where it is even possible for you to get eliminated in the first round, so if u do not like it, do not join or create those games. let the people that like those games have their fun.
Re: No loss of points for players killed before they can play
This should work for both parties. If it's not too hard to implement I'd certainly be happy with this.OliverFA wrote:Well, if a warning serves the purpose of preventing unexperienced players from playing roulete with their points, that might be enough and a good compromise for not changing the game rules too much.
