Forum roundup.

Lately, along with a few friends, I spent some time enjoying some Sergio Leone classics, so who are the Clint Eastwoods and who are the Gian Maria Volontès in the forum recently?

Of course, this thread would be nothing without a contribution from our Blitzy. Once again he manages to think up a list where, surprise surprise, he is at the top, in his medals ideas thread. Come on Blitzy; is there no end to your talents? Meanwhile in his usual inimitable style, Blitzy opened a discussion to cut the number of tourno. medals given out, then cut a dash congratulating all and sundry on their promotions…you gotta love the way he manages to walk that fine line… I think Blitzy just has to win the ‘Tuco’ congrats for the week.

Talking of Tournos a quick and genuine congrats to Night Strike for organising a serious competition in the CC Olympics 2008, and a further congrats to all those clans who entered…shame on you clans who avoided putting your points where your mouths are.

‘The dice are awesome’ thread tried to get off the ground recently (interestingly had few takers) but the conversation quickly goes off track, with Blitz explaining enigmatically

only the invisible realm lasts forever

Georgerx7di responds

don't forget about plastic, that lasts forever too.

But you forgot George! What about our Blitzy's peerless unrelenting talent for thinking up lists where he just happens to be at the top! But it does have to be said; you can’t fault a man for being just so damned good can you.

An interesting little thread was started about the unfairness of Busted Multis by a Major Lindax. With superb complete lack of shame, *manimal stepped in supporting him, I see. With little more interest, the thread was last posted with a great comment from our sometimes Conq. Scott.

Not only do you lose more points if they win, in Mystique's case, he also rates you with all 1s.

I think this makes Mystique this weeks ‘Ramón Rojo’ without a doubt…

On the subject of multis, it seems there has been a rash of them recently. So I took a quick stroll down into the Cheating and Abuse section….I was amazed to see an old and often partner of mine, Army of Achilles accused by jonesthecurl, no chance jonesy. Good old Bobajob stepped in with a great post about heading for some style of game or other…reminded me of the undertaker in a Fistful of Dollars! I see punky206765 has been busted, again, thanks to Bruceswar for tipping me the nod there so I could exit some team games the punk had signed up to. Being the sort of guy who believes one is judged on the company one keeps I would not have appreciated his amity. The congrats for the most obvious multi has to go to the multiple named tropical1 through 7. What is it with these guys? Are they so very lazy…or are they just stupid?? I think the latter, but a special ‘Vincent Aiello’ congrats to Lumpy for spotting that in double quick time.

Max, whom I mentioned in the last roundup seems to have been somewhat bad. Our Brucie was hot on his tail and we had threads locked, unlocked and closed. A bunch of senior hoccifers got it in the neck and the whole thing erupted into a general melee akin to my Rugby club on a visit to a well known house of ill repute in Paris as the Police burst in! I have to pass a congrats to all those players for choosing their friends so wisely.

Many months ago sickmaniac posted a thread asking a legit question as to whether he was wrong. It seems the oppo then reacted by giving him one star (boo hiss from the audience) so Sicknote posted the details and got some worthy responses, if a little brief. I missed this little nugget first time round and boy am I glad I didn’t miss it the second. Now you have to remember, sicknote effectively ensured that he and another player would not win through what seemed to be a daft move. Now to start with Firthy jumped in with the explanatory ‘yes’. Great, so the debate was not yet started, just warming up. DM jumped in with a classic piece of advice:

Just leave him a neg saying:

"Up yours homo fag, this is a neg for negging me. You fag." That'll sort this whole mess out in no time.

Mighty lemonade took another stance, pointing out that this is based on a game called Risk, good point. A few others pop in and offer advice, but I just loved this from greenoaks (that player of the avatar that borders on soft porn)…

bottom line is you made a dick move and your opponent has left the rest of us a warning about you. this site could use more people like him.

….says the player with 147 points!!!

Then in steps Warsteiner, all full of advice and seriousness, but all I could think of is JR's signature so took little heed…however, I was interested in sicknotes reaction to greenie.

Like you've never made a dick move... How's that horse you're on? Pretty fucking high, isn't it?

Well about 147 points high as of today, to be precise. Anyway, moving on….Mighty lemonade jumps back in and it seems to be degenerating, with JACKAZZTJM, never letting us down, saying:

maybe hell get rid of the neg if u meet up with him in the creepy country of "who gives a shit" and f##k him in his cc lovin ass

Well, after these words of wisdom, all goes quiet for 5 months! Then, for some odd reason, this old thread is resurrected. This time round, however, some senior ranks get involved....and boy do they let themselves down:

Failed Integer steps up with the following in response to Mighty Lemonades post.

Are you retarded? Calling someone a douchebag for leaving a suicide feedback? Of course this game isn't based on friggin' risky moves. It's based on odds and playing probability - not trying to get "lucky" and take RISKS. Huge friggin' difference

Ok, not too bad, but then with a stroke of haughtiness straight out of Yul Brynner and ‘The King and I’ hiddendragon says:

Ones tactics are a personal affair...Sadly though your tactics proves why you sit with your lowly rank...It isn't right for me to say you were right or wrong all I can say is my strategy would have been different...That is the difference between us and why we each hold the ranks we do...

Ooohhhh…goodness me, nice swipe there…just make sure your handbag doesn’t catch on the door handle on the way out dear.

Now as you all know, the munificent and bountiful KLOBBER is on forum holiday, so I am eschewing saying anything derogatory as he has no chance to respond….however…this I just could not believe! I was reading the n00b farmers thread so did a quick check on Klobby without his Circus games… And actually the farmer of farmers does have to be him, his totals were:

Rank Points
Cook -999

So his stats show that without the rampaging he does within Circus Minimus, and with a total of -999 points from all his other games he is actually (roll of drums) the 2nd Alangary!!!
Congrats Klobby!!

And finally….. What’s with the turtles appearing everywhere in members avatars???? For a moment I thought Moses had been in! However, there were some great variations on a theme, with Incandenza getting the nod from me for the best interpretation. It must be said though, that the girls images of H2SY and, of course, that sweetie, clapper, were interesting as well, even so, I must congratulate a personal friend who, when I asked for a some recipes not normally served at dinner sent me this as something relative to the epidemic.

Ingredients: 1 turtle, approx 80kg 28kg veal knuckle 9kg beef 2.5kg ham 4 onions, Cayenne pepper 20 peppercorns 1.5kg butter Winter savoury thyme basil, marjorma1 carrot 2kg flour Madeira Lemon to serve 10 cloves 30g salt

Method:
Hang the turtle up by its fins, cut off its head, and hang it up overnight. Eviscerate, and reserve green fat. Cut the turtle into pieces and simmer until tender. Remove the meat and reserve. Make a rich stock with the other meats, vegetables and spices. Sweat the herbs in the butter, add flour to make a roux, add 45 litres of stock and simmer. Pass through a tammie, add turtle meat and green fat, and season with Madeira and lemon juice....

sounds delicious!

Congrats to GD generally for setting new highs in the art of sycophantic fawning and mutual ego stroking. Further congratulations to those who contributed to this fawnfest for ensuring the great unwashed get to see how it can be done.

That's it?

I came into the theatre before the curtain draw as i always want a good seat for what is sure to be another sellout... i got all settled into my seat, with fresh popcorn and a full box of Dots... eager for what was to come...

The curtain raised late... 40 words were spoken on just one subject... and then the stage was empty...

Congratulations for capping a week of disappointment in the forums for me... sparse comments on my literary prose in the foundry, an absence of interesting threads in the GD, and now this...

Don't worry, just because the peformance has ended doesn't mean we have to leave the theatre.

Re: General congratulations

Postby Fruitcake on Mon Sep 08, 2008 3:44 pm

A very busy week all over the Western World, and especially up at FC Towers, finished off with Freddie and Fannie running for cover with the Fed. So who are Bulls and who are the Bears in the wacky world of cc?

Well, it has to be said, GD has been suffering an overkill of Congrats….I have started to feel nauseous with the sweetness I have stumbled over, even when trying to avoid it! Now of course, this could never include my favourite sweetie, Clapper, she deserves whatever it is she is being congratulated for. But Guys! Girls! What’s going on????? I found myself squeezing Lemons and Limes straight into my mouth to counter the cloying sense of sweetness pervading every part of my miserable old git of a person!!! (Of course being careful not to overdose on the Limes). We had Congrats for my old erstwhile partner Loes, good for you Loes, 3500+ games and still going strong, you deserve that promo. Then, on the other side of the coin, Lokisgal, and old and oft oppo of mine, and more recently partner, managed to attain the dizzy heights of Colonel! I hope Loki doesn’t get up to too much mischief there Gal…then again, what the heck…go ahead, enjoy. Yet another old oppo of mine, Dupa, finally managed to make the fancy wings rank as well…the list just goes on and on….and quite frankly, I am starting to feel a build up in the throat as I type, so I shall move on before a dash to the little boys room becomes a matter of life and death!

So in deadly earnest, I went on the hunt for some acid and some venom, much more my cup of tea….and dear reader, you can be sure, I was not let down.

A thread was started asking if sex mattered (well, I am happy to report, at my age it matters less than it did last century!) However, on review, I realised it was not about what used to be my fav subject. In came mandyb, all sexy and purring, asking if it mattered what sex one plays…well this was never going to stay the course was it. First up, Frop popped in, easing himself up with a good catch all, Natelwoolfie tried to stay on topic, the conversation went on, with Frop posting a pic. of some odd looking creatures (glad I missed them whoever they may be) then went steadily downhill. All I can say is......Vive La Difference. As for me, well after a few large glasses of the vintage stuff I have difficulty seeing which are my armies, or those of my allies, so trying to work out which sex it is I am attacking or playing is far beyond my simple ken.

Still not really satisfied I was pleased to see a thread started about rudeness. First up we had some player by the name of Rob, who, I was pleased to see, seems to have less hair than me. I was amazed that he wondered about the rude attitude of some. But my eye was quickly caught by the quote from a game by e_i_pi. Now here was a player who really had mastered the art of insult. With some really useful words from the vast array of insults the English language can muster, this player had managed to use just 6. At this point I thought, “Good, the future is safe in such hands, it really is”. I was pleased to note that Rob had realised that one cannot be rude to Freemiums as they don’t really count. That is of course, those freemies who haven’t yet mastered the keyboard.

Still somewhat dissatisfied, and realising I was not going to assuage this in GD, I wandered down to Cheating and Abuse….ahhhh….at last, there it was, some nice gentlemanly venom being spat back and forth. Our oft Conq. Scotty boy was coming in for some shtick. I sat in stunned silence as the Sergeant at the desk (or should that be Clerk of the Court?) read out the charge sheet. Scott and my old bud, Bruce had been in cahoots it was said…and did this list go on! 50+ games listed, all with evidence against the charged. King of Godlets sat nodding, General Max, just coming out of his cell after the last set of charges against him stopped and added his weight “yeah, that’s right, he did it hoccifer” Turning to Godlet he added, winking, “good job mate”, Godlet winked back. Hattajapes piped in “Right on! And about time too. Good job, no wonder he is such a high rank, he’s a cheater serge, you gotta believe me.” Turning to no one in particular he continued “yeah, and he is a bully” Failed Integer could not sit idly bye, pointing out to anyone who would listen that he could not see anything in the weight of evidence, saying he hadn’t seen Godlet recently (‘perhaps he has been spending his time researching’ I thought idly to myself). Prankster stepped up, with a sonorous tone, set out his thoughts. A lot of interesting facts followed, adding Sleepy byes Blue to the charges. It seems, according to ol’ Prankster, that Bruce and Blue have a kind of bestial love and affection for Scotty. It gets worse reader, it really does…it seems they sit with a digit up their own derrieres when Scotty plays. Oh dear, what next I thought as I poured another large glass. It continues, Scott is never killed by Bruce or Blue unless it is a mercy killing. But, in true gentleman fashion, after sticking all the knives in, Prank congratulates Scotty on his rank.

Well phew, whatever next I thought.

None other than a recently promoted Lumpy himself shuffles into view (“Christ” I thought to myself “the barbarians truly have battered the gate down”). Some serious research done by him, he agreed with Hattajapes, pointing out that anyone who doesn’t kiss him gets the bums rush from Scotty… (That would explain the digits in the derrieres then). Failed Integer returns…..Lo and behold, my blood ran cold, it seems poor old Scotty recently contracted CM. Now I am unsure how bad CM is, but it sounds like he needs a doctor double quick! Georgie Pie arrived on the scene. Pointing out how max is always moaning (hmmm…I hope those digits are in the right derrieres) that he had been playing Scott since they were Sergeants, and that he could not believe Scott was guilty of anything more than being a damn fine upstanding chap in every way! In his opinion, those making these heinous accusations are just jealous. This was followed by some stud who takes risks pointing out that max plays with question marks all day….now here I got confused….but then that’s nothing new so I continued…after pouring a swift top up.

Failed Integer renewed. Apparently Bruce dumped BOB, and has contracted CM instead. He has also dumped ‘Whatnot Elsie’ a lady of ill repute from the Far East. Good for you Bruce, hope the CM clears up (was she responsible?) Then he really confused me….apparently Giga??? Is not a bad player…well I’m glad about that! But, it seems, Giga, doesn’t plan a plan but pinches another’s plans…ok…I think I understand that. Anyway, Failed Integer doesn’t fear Giga who has no plan….moving on, the great Scott appeared…mumbled then left. Oh….I was disappointed, but I was sure I would be hearing more.

Incandescent steps up. Offering the suggestion that maybe Scott is better than Bruce…that seems a good summary to me. But then he mentions butt hurting, so once again I wondered about the digits…this was getting truly worrying.

JoeFroglet adds that this is all from Poison and bile from proven cheats and those who are eaten up with envy. I noted the word poison with a capital P…was there something I should know? I opened another bottle and turned the page.

Dans Wardrobe added his thoughts. Putting the slant that the senior player gets to win so no one else loses too many points….sounds like death by a thousand cuts to me. Having said this, Wardrobe mentions he hasn’t joined any of these games for months because of what is being said….I think.

Failed Integer scoffs at this. His attitude is to beat up whoever is the most stupid and take the pain….sounds good to me FI.

Kletka moves in with some damning evidence, saying he will testify that Scott has only removed him from foe when he has promised not to attack him early on in a game….oh dear, this was not good…where was Scott?

Wardrobe steps straight back in pointing out that majors can be stupid….I agree wholeheartedly, I was one.

Then with a suddenness of attack, that can only have been brought about by a dose of CM, Scott arrives.

First off, realising the thread is in danger of no longer being about himself, he pulls them into line. Then pointing out that Prankster is sick and a general (huh?) and may well have adopted the UFS…..Mein Gott I thought, surely not!! Has someone unveiled the UFS….This Ultimate Flawless Strategy has been the Holy Grail of all Players….boy was I peeved I had not been the chosen one. Scott proceeds to flay the arguments one by one…I watched, like a rubberneck, sipping my Port as the pieces came flying off. One by one…Scott was on form; giving it everything….I was impressed enough to top up.

With a flourish he closed his argument. Falling back on the Vendetta between the higher echelons.

One after another, the hoccifers came in, some for Scott, some against…the port was beginning to cloud my vision…..The war was gathering pace….but in all this I wondered….was there really any better spectator sport?

Well dear reader, I think not.

But before I go, I must apologise for my tardiness in reporting this all to you, for I am sure, you would want to be kept abreast of all events happening, serious or not. But there has been good reason, so in closing I shall tell you the conundrum I happened upon at the weekend.

For a break I went and stayed with my Daughter and her Children. Now as any GrandDad will tell you, Grandchildren and us get on famously, after all we have a common foe, our Grand children’s parents. Anyway, I digress. Now while I was there, confirmation of my Grand daughter’s acceptance to the Royal School of Ballet arrived to much celebration….but I wondered…..How in God's name does a Grand Daughter of mine show such lightness of foot when the nearest I could manage was stamping on someone whilst playing Rugby?????? I spent much of the time confirming similarities between myself and my daughter I can tell you!!

Congratualtions to owenshooter for being his diligent policing of this mighty thread.

Congrats to Failed Integer for missing his supporting role in the round up, and thinking all he had was a walk on part.

Congrats to Sleepy byes Blue for trying to derail this thread.

For the record, this thread is to remind us all that this is but a game, not a serious life altering experience (well for most anyway). So congrats to me for reminding you all about this.
