I think spelling it color is snooty. It was colour first.

Anything American is really just bastardised English. e.g. Baseball is bastardised Cricket, "American football" is bastardised Rugby, and "American English" is bastardised English. Also, I'm pronouncing "bastardised" 'barstardised', not 'basstardised'.

How come this has become an anti-American thread? You can do that anywhere in CC. I wanted to take a pop at the English, Irish, and even the Welsh, who, by the way, don't even have a proper country, and are in fact just strange-talking Englishmen.

I would quote someone in this statement, but that would be unfair. There are a few things wrong with this thread from the start.

1. The poll is based upon the presumption that no one likes the welsh, irish or scots. There are some people who come from these countries who play cc, myself included.
2. THIS IS RACISM. This should not be allowed on CC. I think that the members involved should not do this again.

Stinkycheese is quite correct. It's Jingoistic, and it's nationalist, but Scot, Welsh, and Irish aren't races.

So sorry, maybe a sense of humor would serve you well?

Maybe I'm a strange American....

I fill my fuel tank with petrol (the term 'gas' opens doors to too many crude jokes).

I usually use honour, colour, or favour (because it makes it easier to win at Scrabble).

Nearly every DVD in my cabinet is a British film of some sort (it's confusing for my children when I correct their pronunciation to ensure that they don't get their arses kicked at school).

I pronounce the last letter of the alphabet 'Zed' (that's the proper way, I feel).

And sometimes when I make a left-hand turn I'm overcome by a horrible, terrifying fear that I've turned into the lane of oncoming traffic (even though I KNOW I didn't).

I've never been farther east than Memphis, Tennessee. I was probably just exposed to too many British comedies when I was a kid. I have no real, good and true reason to do these things....

But that's ok....because Americans don't really need a reason to be strange. :D .

Well, I call my windshield a 'windscreen,' and I tend to even go as far as to use olde english (Thy, thee, doth, etc.) from time to time.

just thought i should say that someone has voiced a complaint in cheating and abuse forum saying that this thread is racist and should be dealt with by mods. haven't read it all but just generally guys keep the racism out of it. i know the whole idea of the thread is a bit of a joke but some people can be sensitive to certain issues.

I still don't see how making fun of the welsh, irish, and scottish is racist. I mean sure it's not nice, but since when are irish/welsh/scottish people a different race? A paleface is a paleface to me.

I mean, haven't those countries been taking pot shots at each other since day one?
