Just stay away from GA and you can kill all the people you want (except Jonesy).

In 1oth grade I went to Hawaii for Choir. We came in first in Girls Select, Concert Choir, Men's, and in Jazz/Elite. Basically we won it all.strike wolf wrote:10th was the hardest for me. Than again, in 10th I had 4 AP classes, TAG to deal with, Football and a teacher who tried her best to fail me.

In 10th grade, I was also in a short-lived band called Industry. I was the lead singer/2nd guitarist. The band never worked out, mainly because the basist had been the lead guitarist's Girlfriend for almost a year and when they broke up the band fell apart.

M'dear, what are you doing in such a disreputable neighbourhood?apey wrote:I think I am coming back to chatter box and leaving FW behind me. Not that I can't handle the flames, it is just, well it is making me mean I almost got in a fightwho cares about post counts anyway
I've visited once or twice myself, in the same spirit that one can't leave Amsterdam without at least walking though the Red Light district.
I found it not so much insalubrious (I'm talking about FW now, the Red Light district is for another post) as insanitary.
If the fora were a landscape, FW would be the landfill.
Flame Wars seemed to me nothing better than a repository for tired and repetitive potty-mouthing devoid of imagination. Sort of a Coprolaliacs (gods-how we-wish-they-were-)Anonymous.
Just about every post in FW I saw was
"You're gay/retarded/prepubescent/weak/unable to read/a multi/a crap player/unable to appreciate my intellect/belonging to a race I don't approve of".
or
"NO, you are."
Calm your soul and leave such nonsense to those that find it amusing.

I'd also like to say that due to issues surrounding the break up, i'm not really good friends with the guitarist anymore either. I would still talk to him ocasionaly during school but not nearly as often as we used to.strike wolf wrote:In 10th grade, I was also in a short-lived band called Industry. That's a very heart warming story, Strike.

Re: the longest thread, thread - Occasionally NSFW
I always wished I'd learnt an instrument. Somehow the subject never came up at school. When I worked in London, my good mate Barry started teaching me to play the guitar, but the damn guitar was stolen from the office overnight, and that was the end of that.
My boy is learning clarinet, and my daughter about to start on cello. My wife has a basic competence at guitar and piano, so (apart from the gerbils) I'm the only one left out.

Those are good instruments. It might be a good idea to get them to learn a second instrument. I myself can play both guitar and piano (I'm a much better piano player than I am guitar),jonesthecurl wrote:I always wished I'd learnt an instrument. Somehow the subject never came up at school. Yeah, I just wish the drummer had something to add to this story but he doesn't.jonesthecurl wrote:strike wolf wrote:It became even weirder after I dated the girl for about 2 1/2 months in 11th.Skittles! wrote:That's a very heart warming story, Strike.

Hands up all those who've lost a close friend, or at least been distanced from them for an extended time, 'cos of dating/mating conflicts.

Yes it's true. But the problem I had is more of how he handled the break up more than it is what happened between me and her almost a year later.jonesthecurl wrote:Hands up all those who've lost a close friend, or at least been distanced from them for an extended time, 'cos of dating/mating conflicts.

Re: the longest thread, thread - Occasionally NSFW
Well, almost, but it was because I was told to f*ck off by my best friend when we were talking on the phone when he was the one who called ME, because his then slut of a girl friend (who had been with a few other of my friends, and ditched them one after another, he wouldn't listen to me) had come in. He had asked me about what I thought about her and I had told him that him dating his then girlfriend may not last long because she had done it several times before. When he told me to f*ck off, I didn't talk to him until a month later after his girlfriend (whom they had talked about marriage after she graduated) ditched him and went off with one of her ex-boyfriends. He personally stopped by (I will hold a grudge about that kind of thing unless they come and personally apologize to me face to face) and apologized. I told him that if he ever told me to f*ck off again (in that kind of manner), there would be no forgiving.
"Eh, whatever."

You know he was probably asking you because he was afraid of that himself but didn't want to admit it. So he called you hoping that you would say something like "oh yeah man. I'm sure it will turn out great". So when you didn't he got upset.
Now it's your turn Jonesy.
