I didn't get this until I had to buy some, but scissors (especially for small kids) have a big space for the thumb, and a smaller one for the index finger. If you try to use them in the wrong hand then your thumb is in the index finger hole, and your finger in the thumb. Automatic clumsiness.

Let's see. I eat either hand, sweep/rake/vacuum whichever hand provides a better angle, bat whichever hand confuses the pitcher, but throw right handed - except for frisbee, which I can throw either hand, fore or backhand. (Or at least I could before I didn't play ultimate for a year... ) I write right-handed, but I can print left-handed better than right-handed. I snowboard either foot, but prefer left. I leave the blocks off my right foot in track, and I golf right-handed. (When I can bring myself to golf... which isn't often.) I use a computer mouse either hand... whichever way it was previously set up - except for trackball mouses, which I never learnt to use leftie. I hold books in what is apparently a right-handed manner, but hold my - wait, there are children. Equipment (when in the more mundane use) left-handed. I play table tennis right-handed, but that's more because the guy who taught me was right-handed. I can't draw with either hand.

Did I miss anything?

And... since I'm not quite ambidextrous, what does that make me?

With an appropriately large enough sample (at least 1,000 respondents) it should work out to 10% left handed and 90% right handed.

Which of course underscores another 90/10 split I've always wondered about, homosexuals. I just really don't think that 10% of the population is gay. I really think it's more like 2%. There are so many more lefties out there than fairies.

I hesitated to answer, because so many threads have already dissolved into a homosexual debate, but that 10% was based on some old and improperly conducted studies. Specifically, it was a study that was much more likely to include those who did not live "standard"/average middle class lives and have average American values.

The real percentage is much lower, but also probably higher than many people would think based upon personal experience, because until very recently it was dangerous to even admit to being homosexual. There still is a stigma attached, so that even many "openly" homosexual people do not go out of their way to advertise the fact.
