Extra time card for speed

Post by Georgerx7di »

I play only real time games, however I avoid speed because I don't like having to rush my kills. I think it would be nice if everyone were issued a time card at the start of the game to use whenever they want. It could be good for 10 or 15 minutes. This way on their kill turn they could use it to take their time and make a good play. It would be something that you could use on any turn. What does everyone think.

I don't play speed games for the speed, I play them because I like to play games in one sitting. On the other side, the speed part often demands quick thinking and decision making, which can be interesting too.... mmmm....

All in all, I like the idea George. After all you only get 1 card, when you've used it, it's down to speed again

Thinking a bit more about it.... Maybe they should make 3 options in creating games: 24 hr., speed and real time....

Would "real time" be like speed, but you can click an "add time" button?

I'm thinking Real time could be a happy medium where each turn is 30 minutes or so. Allows maps like 2.1 to become reasonable faster maps.

I think Tim has a good idea. Keep the 5 (or maybe 10) minute turns and add a button that gives you another 5 minutes if you need it. And you can only use it when you are actually taking your turn. If you make the turns 30 minutes, I'm afraid the game will drag on from the start....

I like the button idea, because if someone just leaves, they'll be done in 5 minutes, so you wouldn't be sitting around waiting on a deadbeat, but someone who needed a few extra minutes, could get it. They would have to make it so that the timer has to be down under 1 minute or so, to avoid some of the potential abuse.

I think the 'time card' as you called it would be cool, but I can't pass judgement until I've actually experianced it. Not to be a party pooper, but shouldn't this be in Suggestions... :? Well, I think that this is definately a worth while addition to the game.---C

George- when speed games were implemented, I had suggested an idea to have a one time 5 minute extension. If a player started their turn, they could add X amount of minutes to use at their disposal ( like they have on the various poker sites) due to connection problems or if the turn required thought. Unfortunately, Lack and others saw problems with the idea..... tbh, I can't remember why tho'.

I lost my first speed game, because I ran out of time (it was huge kill I haven't managed to finish). I never joined speed game again...

Very good suggestion!

ive never had a problem killing someone because of time. 5 mins is plenty of time to make your kill, and move on to the next segment of your move...i can see where the 2 1/2 mins after could get hairy if you left yourself short the first time...but do yourself a favor and plan ahead.

5 mins. is plenty of time to move.

you do get extra time in freestyle if you eliminate someone (I think you do in sequential too, I'm not sure though)

The only problem I can see with the add time button is in freestyle. Would everyone get extra time when someone hits the button? And what about people who wait for the time to run out so that they can move last. I think that you should have to make at least two or three attacks in order to add time.

well, this option wouldn't concern you, as you are freemium, but no, I think it's a bad Idea anyway
