Of course you are correct. Lack said once that your username is like your body.....you have to accept it.... you can't just change it. But I've noticed the mods from time to time will grant a rare exceptions...a life regeneration (example would be if a person takes a username to be some sort of obscene or indescent word.) My advice is this, send them a PM promising you will switch to Priemium if they will allow you to change you name once. It dosn't hurt to ask, but please don't go flaming around if they say no.

They used to do it when Lack was desperate for cash .I used to be doggy sirius ,but bought a premuim membership and got it changed .
Now manimal is creating a regular income for cc .The cash flow is no longer a problem so you have to keep your name .
