There was a thread that I had just read- it had to do with phpp resizing for the animated avatars... he still may be able to get it back since it was loaded prior to the update. Suppose Yeti would know for sure.

No, you can't take it off or else you won't get it back until they fix it. I don't think it has to do with resizing either, cause I've tried wearing others animated avatars that still work on them, but they don't work for me. So whoever still has an animated or transparent PNG avatar, do not take it off unless you want to risk never getting it back.
