Hi,
Since I can't sleep, I thought I'd read this thread. Possibly I have another view to add. Over the last few months, I've begun participating in more tournaments. I still play with my friends and pick up random games as well. In general, I try to stay at about 5 to 7 games at a time. That's about my max if I'd like to continue to survive grad school. I see myself as a moderately involved CCer who enjoys all of the site's features, and still approaches it as just a game.
I'm very glad to see the updates each time they are rolled out. The medals system was bound to generate interest, excitement, and a few rules to order the chaos. Having a 30 day time limit to fill tournaments is an ingenious way to look out for the average CCer (like myself). It's a way to ensure that I have many tournament options, and that the majority of them will get off the ground in a timely manner. The uproar about this rule is, to me, quite shocking and unnecessary. I've never encountered a situation where the appropriate mod was unwilling to take a personal situation into account. I guess that's the sum of my two cents.
Happy conquering!
Laci
