Add Strongholds to New Maps that are easier to defend in
Specifics:
Strongholds should be preset territories denoted on the map
Defending rolls from these territories can have a +1 or +2 added to their highest roll
Strongholds could be added to all/some maps and turning them on (using a stored and undisplayed stronghold map version) could simply be a game setup option.
I've seen this idea work very well on some other maps and it injects some very interesting tactics into those maps. If you'd like to see how others have done this idea visit Grand Strategy @ http://www.denizengames.com. Strongholds are on their Middle Earth map and several others.
In my opinion there should be no other modification to the allotment of armies based on the strongholds. They should just be a map addition that affects the geographic tactics of a map with no direct effect on the bonuses or other game rules.
You didn't read that post did you? It had about 2 ideas extremely similar to the last one
General- adds 1 to your highest attack die- you keep the general untill he loses in battle and he can only be used on a attack you can use only 1 general at a time
Marshall- adds 1 to your highest defense die- you can only use 1 at a time
Same basis, and anyway this should be a map making adaptations so go to the XML thread in Foundry

Your "same basis" comment is a stretch. Yes - they both would affect the dice similarity but the overall idea is much different than a movable unit that brings those dice modifications with them.
Also, yes there are map making/XML repercussions to this idea but I don't feel the entirety of the idea could be discussed in such a limited forum. As a game play option for existing maps I feel that this is the appropriate place for this discussion. If any moderators disagree I'd be more than happy to move to the more appropriate location.
Do you have any constructive criticism or ideas that you'd like to add?
