London has worst crime rate in the world?!

one of the worst places in the World to live is Brazzaville in Congo(not the DR) and low and behold the cleaner in our work comes from there. we've been taking the piss out of him a lot, as he says it's a lovely place to live. always voted in the top 10(or bottom 10).

there is a ever growing increase of knife and gun crime stemming rapidly across london and other cities in the UK.

nope, there has been an increase in media reporting. the victims seem to be getting slightly younger, but the actual figure hasn't risen at all.

as for the crime rate thing, dunno bout knives but as it stands, you are most likely to get murdered in Detroit, US, than any other city in the world.

i just had a hard time looking up statistics on cities, do you have a website with londons crime stats compared to elsewhere in the world? as long as you don't live in the shit areas of london, manchester or birmingham there's really nothing to worry about in the UK, the media just seem to like giving the impression that there is.



and also, whilst it's not about cities, it may tickle you to know that iceland, sweden and norway all have higher reported crime rates than england and wales. others do too, those were just the more surprising ones

But ignoring the misdeeds of Cardinals, the only information I could find on London's crime rates was the UN national surveys from 2002 that put England and Wales as the fourth worst place behind the Dominican Republic, New Zealand, and Finland. However, the UN only counts reported crimes which is why Russia had the relativley low rate of 2022 crimes per 100,000.

So based on my findings (or lack thereof) I have concluded that London is really no different that any other major city in the developed world. Don't go to the bad parts at night and you should be fine.

I don't agree with that, alot of people have done the same as me by copy and pasting from various internet sources and agreed with the views of the source, does that make them thick? in your' mind probably not, maybe they touch down on issues you don't agree with thus making your' view of them as thickos, oh and to clarify these reports of london were actually not from the sun but from various European tabloids.

newspaper, consequently I have read it most of my life. It is in fact a decent paper but its editorial stance is fiercely right wing and its important to get some balance by also taking on board more liberal views, which in fact means reading almost anything else

Brooksie I dont want to fight with you but a lot of what you write is whats known as 'popularist ' , thats to say it sounds good at face value but doesnt bear close scrutiny. Normaly it targets peoples emotions and good examples of popularist journalism would be ' 'bring back hanging ' , ' never deal with terrorists ' . ' publish identity of child molestors '.
These things seem reasonable and tug at ones heartstrings but are not implemented for the simple reason that they dont work and would end up doing far more harm than good - vigilantees also fits that bill perfectly.
