So here's the idea...
My friends and I have been going through the maps one at a time, playing every single one. It's been pretty neat. I would love to see a tournament that does this. Some type of point score would be needed, but I am more interested in the structure. If you ran the tournament with 6 players per map doing this, it would give you a great opportunity to earn the cross-map achievement.
My thought was each player playing in 8 games at a time (premium only because of that), like for each row of maps in the Game finder. Each player would play every map. So, the first map would end up getting 8 games of 6 unique players in each game. My thought was to do the same for 8 maps each week. Randomized, so hopefully you are playing as many unique people as possible in unique maps. If you had a program or some way to ensure everyone had different opponents in each game, that would be even better. This would be 48 players across 48 maps each week. You could go 96 if you were really into it I guess. Definitely need some reserves though.
By going through all of the maps, everyone gets to play on every map, it's a pretty epic tournament. King of the Mountain, King of the World, Mr. Universe, Around the world in 88 Maps... whatever... There are lots of potential themes...
Setting could be a variety. Some maps lend themselves really well to escalating card games. Some probably would be neat for No-Cards. So make some of the maps escalating. For additional medal opportunities, maybe every other week or every other map, could be "Terminator" maps and people could earn that medal too. You could really have some fun with the settings too. The 3rd, 6th weeks being Fog of War weeks. Maybe even a mid-tournament Assassin week.
I think the organizer could have a lot of fun with this tournament, and the players of course. It's a pretty big endeavor though. I just don't have the time to be able to run something like this right now. I am hoping someone else finds this idea really interesting and does have the time to pick this up and run with it.
