One thing to keep in mind, some of the players are children and, say what you want about kids "hearing everything" on the school ground .. it really depends on where you live and how you were raised. Some adults just don't like foul language. Again, it has to do with how you were raised.

Basically, if you would not say it to your elderly grandmother, your boss or dad's boss, your child's friend or child's teacher ... it probably is not appropriate here unless you already know the people you are playing.

That said, we also have to look at the other side. Many things that are absolute "NO's" in English are perfectly acceptable in other cultures and languages. (bodily function issues, in particular, are not particularly "bad" in many cultures). Sometimes, because people learn English by watching (uncensored) movies, they get the idea, for example, that dropping an "F bomb" is OK for "emphasis" .. or using sh*t, etc. (Sometimes native speakers think this, too! .. they just don't have an excuse!)

In those cases, usually a polite "word to the wise" is all that is required. If, AFTER being advised, however, the person still continues ... then it is intentional.

And, let's not forget the opposite is true as well. Some words are OK in English, but not in other languages. However, though respect is absolutely appropriate, there is also a bit of "when in Rome". I think most of us will avoid anything we are specifically told is offensive, (MOST of us! ;) ) but we can't be expected to know every culture on earth equally.

Children shouldn't be on forum sites in the first place - the internet is notorious for inappropriate content.

This entire idea is shit...

How about a FORUM BAN for trolling/spamming/cursing/racism?

This is a good idea, how about with additional 10 point deduction for flaming outside of flame wars.

It happens in the army (demotions for bad behavior). It would be for the serial offenders, cursing, racist remarks etc.

Consider it like a speeding ticket. Docked 100 points for racism. thoughts?

Hehee- they want more players in the Forums not less. Hell when I get a speeding ticket, it's actually trying to get to a place I want to be. :D

"John Spartan, you have been fined one credit for violation of the Verbal Morality Statute." (Demolition Man, highly entertaining and under-rated film)

Yeah, I'm not really feeling this concept. Sure, lots of people act like horse's asses in the forums, and there doesn't seem to be much of a mechanism in place to dissuade such behavior, but an automated system that looks for keywords and docks players accordingly is a bad idea.
