There is also a lot more going on here than mere racism, although it does play a significant part in the equation. Suppose, for example, the people were reversed; the African American candidate is the Republican J.C. Wats. Would the support for Wats in the African American community be as solidly for him as they would be for Obama? Most definitely not. Most African Americans are overwhelmingly Democrats.

On the other hand the non African American community is pretty split down the middle in terms of party. Clearly you aren't going to see any Republicans vote for Obama because he's a Democrat, so this means you are reducing a small percentage of the non African American Democratic base ... can anyone say still angry Clinton supporters?

These two factors cause the disparity in the numbers, the difference in the politcial ratios of African Americans and the general rift that still remains from the Democratic Primary among non African American Democrats.

Totally - the racism here is from the Black Obama supporters. Obama is an inexperienced statesman who proves every day that he isn't seasoned enough to be the President. I don't support Obama - and that inexperience is a huge reason why. His race has nothing to do with it. Hell, I would vote for Condi Rice if she ran.

You are allowed to vote against Obama and NOT be a racist. The fact that over 80% of blacks blindly support Obama, however, is most certainly a racist position. Especially since most of them will openly admit that they are voting for him ONLY because they want to see a black man in office.

The example I love to pull out is Abraham Lincoln -- generally agreed to be an OK Prez (though Napoleon would disagree just to piss me off). There are many others as well.

Plus, Obama is NOT inexperienced. He's only inexperienced relative to Clinton and McCain -- but then, the two of them have been in politics for a LONG time.

Tell me again how he "proves every day" that he's not seasoned enough to be President? Is it the fact that he tries to have nuanced positions, not dumb-down his stances, and promise to listen to advisors?

One voting for Obama because he is black is racist. That is discriminating (dis·crim·i·nate- to make a distinction in favor of or against a person or thing on the basis of the group, class, or category to which the person or thing belongs rather than according to actual merit) based on race. If I announce that I am voting for someone because they are white racist? It is the same thing.

I never said he couldn't. I didn't say he was elected because of racists, I said that the Blacks who support him because he is black are being racist. Big difference. Of course there are whites voting for him. I never suggested otherwise.

Obama has clearly demonstrated on several occasions that he is not ready to be President. He frequently panders to the crowd he is speaking to - and while that is normal for a politician, he takes it to another extreme, and often says things that piss people off. The Isreal situation, for instance. There was some worry that Obama wasn't very pro-Israel, so in response he came out and issued a statement expressing unequivocal support for Israel, including making Jerusalem 100% Israeli.

Diplomatically speaking, that was a nightmare. Jerusalem is at the very heart of the Israel/Palestine issue, and to outright express full support for Israel's position on that issue outraged pro-Palestinian groups. Serious Diplomatic faux-pas that was the result of inexperience - he actually had to retract his statements just to pacify some of these groups.

He demonstrated a lack of understanding about the military when he suggested that he would instruct the Joint Chiefs to "end this war now." The Joint Chiefs aren't in the command structure, and are merely advisors. I expect my President to have an intimate understanding of how the military works, and its chain of command.

Economically, he is out of his depth. His comments about Capital Gains prove he barely even understands what they are, and the fact that he continues to make some bizzare promises about tax rates that are quite frankly inexplicable - even if you support his general "tax the rich" policy, is worrisome. I don't support his more Socialistic tax position, but even with that framework in mind, he doesn't understand enough about the economy to actually implement those ideas. This much is evident by how he talks about it.

Obama is an excellent speaker. Give him a prepared speech, and he sounds wonderful. But challenge his position - ask him something he isn't prepared for, and that inexperience quickly rises to the surface. He doesn't make sense, replies with canned campaign catch-phrases that don't always make sense (More of the failed policies of the past, for instance, when talking about opening up drilling - when the policy of the past was BANNING drilling), and ends up having to send handlers out to retract his comments a day later.

Obama is not ready. I think Clinton was inexperienced as well, but her role in Bill's White House at least gave her an intimate understanding of how Washington works. Obama was barely in the Senate 100 days when he announced his presidential bid.

I want someone in the White House who understands how Congress works, through experience. I want a President who understands the military, their command structure, and how military action is implemented. I want a President who knows what Capital Gains taxes even are, and can come up with coherent economic strategies on his own.

Most of all, I want a President who understands these things, so it is HIM running the country, not his advisors who can tell him anything they want, and he won't know the difference.

This is not the country that Lincoln ran. And we are not the same people.
