Re: Revelation 18
Ok, perhaps i was a bit too soft.
Jay: why on earth would anyone believe the words of a writer on (effectively) LSD?
Sure, Lennon wrote some cool stuff whilst tripping, but I don't think he claimed to be an authority on the end of the world.
I find John the Druggie a bit hard to take seriously.

(I'm not going to explain it AGAIN)

link to the thread?
or you could just tell me why you think the words of a drug addict are helpful in predicting the end of the world.

Well, Jay is a drug addict himself so it makes perfect sense.suggs wrote:just tell me why you think the words of a drug addict are helpful in predicting the end of the world.

Yes, as soon as you can link me to some proof that John was a "drug addict".suggs wrote:link to the thread?

I know exactly what Revelation 18 is referring to.... but I'm not going to share it. I'll just wait until it happens, then tell you I was right.

Ah yes, 'proof'. A concept with which you have a strange relationahip at the best of times.
EG:
proof that john was talking about helicopters, not giant locusts
proof that babylon is the US
etc.
etc.
etc.

That's interpretation. A far cry from saying someone is a drug addict.

Jay - you MUST be able to see the HUGE parallel here... please say you do.

Re: Revelation 18
Yeah, I was being deliberately over the top.
I have no idea whether he was a drug addict -but its common knowledge amongst theologians and historians that he was chewing some far out herbal shit when he wrote Revelations.
The best evidence is to read it - its some seriously wacky shit.
btw i wont convince you, because i don't have a link -its called "memory" and i read it in it a book years ago. Sorry about that. Still, thats how most folk operate -you don't walk through life with a stack of footnotes under your arm.
But yeah, Johnnie Boy was twatted when he wrote it.

I have been studying my groin for over 30 years and that also has proved rather pointless.jay_a2j wrote:heavycola wrote: Where do you get this from? the King James annotated? is there a footnote: 'giant locusts = helicopters' - who told you that john is talking about future technology and not just dreaming of massive insects? Seriously, where do you get this from?
No, Hal Lindsey has been studying End Time Prophesy for over 30 years, he has written numerous book on the subject. I, unlike some here, read. The meaning of Revelation was "locked up" until the time of the end. Now people are really starting to understand the meaning of Revelation.
