Speaking of sarcasm. When I was in jail I was amazed at the fact that almost nobody in there could recognize sarcasm on any level.

The social tool of sarcasm includes detecting tone of voice, and to a lesser extent facial expression and body language. None of that exists on the internet, which is why many people have a much harder time detecting it than in real life.
