id think Romania should second the group now,when they play Holland next,the Dutch will rest as much players as possible,and i can see France and Italy drawing,i really hope Spain and Holland meet each other would be the game of the tournement

we could have won

but considering italy had a disallowed goal that was perfectly valid i think the result is fair.

next round is gonna be a blast. italy and france are forced to win and hope romania loses or draws against holland.
in theory holland has the 1st place guaranteed no matter what happens so they could use some reserves, this plus the fact that in the qualifications romania actually managed to beat holland and finish on 1st could provide the greatest surprise of the euro 2008. italy and france eliminated in the group stages

This penalty never should have been given in first place

Footie is a bit like Risk: you set up your perfect strategy but then ****** comes up with the dumbest goal ever (like an attack 6v14 succeeding) for the ref to give a last minute penalty for pulling a shirt (like your opponent missing a turn)...

And dont even make me started on pulling shirts: this is the worst desease of the modern footie as this allows slow players to defend against fast players, making the game much less fun to watch. Pulling a shirt must be yellow card, always yellow card!!! Closing your eyes on this for the whole game and then giving a freaking penalty is at least crazy...

You don't think holland are going to try to make this happen? They will meet people from their group in the semis providing both teams win in the quarters. This will eliminate 2 hard opponents for holland.

I'm doubtfull. The players from holland really want to win everything, so I don't think they'll let romania off easy. Don't forget that since they beat France and Italy, they stand a good chance of beating them in the semi-final.

But, it is true that both linesmen hated Luca Toni throughout the match. Draw is a fair outcome, except for poor saps like me who had bet that Romania will win.

Yes, as you said Toni's goal was valid and that penalty was an invention of the referee. Thank God Buffon saved it.

I am pissed cause I think Italy should have won! :p

I am hoping for an Italian win over France and Holland to hold Romania at least to a draw now.

This thing is ridiculous. Why do they meet again in the semi-finals? The table should be set up in a way that they meet again in the final.
