Removable Password *pending*
well i was just wondering (and hope this hasnt been suggested before) whether it would be possible to put a password on a game, then, before the game starts remove the password. this is because i have a doubles partner who is in a timezone 7 hours different to mine, therefore it isnt easy to set up games. if it was possible to remove the password i could create the games with passwords, then wait till he joins my team and then open up the game, by removing the password, for other players to join.

Well it seemed like a good idea, no slots currently gone for - but I guess that is the reason we need this option.tals wrote:Damn I should have thought of thatlackattack wrote:No i don't know when but you can always post the password in Callouts to fill up the game with people.Sorted, lets see if they fill up.

Private to Public Game Conversion
Mod Edit:
When first introduced, this suggestion was to compensate for the lack of an invite system and allowing you to get your desired teammates while keeping the game open to all others, without having to rush against the clock
Now, it isn't as relevant, but it still may be considered useful for private games that are not filling well. This may be implemented when the following points are reached

- Set player/team limit (i.e. Once my team is full)
- Time limit (i.e. 24 hours)
- A "button" available to the host being activated

private 'then' public games
i was wondering if it was posible to make a game private, make the password and have the password so friends or something could join a game and then the password is shut off.
The password could be set to work for a set amount of time ,say 12 hours and after that time the password will be unusable, so anyone could join.

Re: private 'then' public games
i doubt it will happen but in the meantime you could make the private games, wait 12 hours then post the password in the callouts section. it is not then fully public but at least the public who read the forums will know.

The option to convert a private game to a public game is on the To-Do list.

Suggestion - Private Game that auto converts to Public Game
Concise description:
- Create the option to create a private game which automatically converts into a public game after a pre-specified amount of time eg 24 hours.
- After this type of private game has been created, only people knowing the password can join initially. Then after 24 hours the game is open for anyone else to fill any remaining places.
- Especially in team games, friends may wish to play together as a team. At present this can be thwarted if a 'non-friend' joins before the team is completed as teams are created by order of joining the game. Where the friend are spread around the world it can be impossible for friends to time creating a game so that they can all join before anyone else.

Re: Suggestion - Private Game that auto converts to Public Game
my apologies,
I didn't notice it as it was tucked away in Site section and not in the gameplay section where speed game to casual game to-do is!
Can you move this comment and time based automatic conversion variation over to that topic heading please
Cheers

Re: Option To Make Private Games Go Public *To-Do*
I hope we can have the remove password option soon. I just realized we never had the option. It just seems like an obvious feature.

temporary password lock of created game
Concise description:
- I wonder if it would be possible to lock a game that was created for the purpose of playing in teams until the players that you want on your team have joined.
- create a game that is password locked
- once the desired players have joined, remove the password protection and allow random players to join
- people that want to play together can get on teams without having to race against time to get the desired players in the game before some random yahoo takes the desired players seat.
