[SUGGESTION] Medals are too big!

• Medals are too big and they mess upo the forums

Specifics:

• Make them smaller

This will improve the following aspects of the site:

• Easier to read forum posts
• less of an eye sore

EDIT: i mean, my first huge post and this small one both take the same amount of space because of the medals.

Agreed. When everyone gets their next win, it's going to look awfully cluttered on the forums. The average age here isn't geriatric, so the medals would still be quite viewable with a slight size reduction.

It does say how many medals we've won, if they get reduced in size, but still clutter, they could be removed completely and the "Medal won: xx" could become a link to the profile of the poster.This way, only the interested readers could go check them out.

Could also move the PM button up to the empty space beside the username. That'll help with the huge space taken up by the medals. Look at all this wasted space on a 2-line post! It takes up half my screen!! >>>>>>>

why not make it so it says the number of medals earned but you can click on it like a spoiler and the medals earned show up

i fully support this. there is no reason that the medals need to be displayed at all, let alone that huge. i'd say leave the line showing amount of medals, but get rid of the actual images. if anyone cares enough about your medals (and trust me, noone cares) they can check your profile. if people are insecure enough that they feel their medals need to be on display at all times, they could always be included as an image or avatar or something silly like that

The medals definitely need to be displayed, though. We discussed this a bit in the scoring ad-hoc group a while ago. I'm pretty sure that the medals are supposed to be just as important as your rank, if not more so--to earn a lot of medals, you have to branch out, while your rank is often earned by just gaming the system.

The forum icons should be the same size as the rank icons (or thereabouts)

Or for the forum versions you could cut off the ribbon part of the medal and keep purely the hanging symbol. That would make it easier to make them smaller.

Umm... I actually sort of like the way the medals stretch things out so that the signatures, posts, quotes, and everything else don't run into one big huge mess. It provides some spacing and helps make things a bit easier to find where the breaks are.

Initially I thought I agreed with the original poster and subsequent supporters. But actually I think Optimus Prime is right.

Let everyone have a few days to get used to the new look and feel and then add a poll to this original post to see what the balance of opinion is?

You can remove the signatures from even showing up.(which I did)
And, even if they make the medals smaller, you will still have that "stretch" but not as much.

Of course medals needs to stay the current size on the profile page.
And I agree with whoever says that, instead of making them smaller, the ribbons could be removed to make them smaller on the forums.

OK apparently the size of the medals is a phpbb software thing. Lack tries to avoid hacking the code if at all possible, so if we want this changed, someone needs to get on phpbb to do it. Link to their site is at the bottom of this page.

It's not the size of the medals that I have a problem with, It's the lack of gold ones i own. So if someone goes to phpbb - can they turn mine gold and increase my numbers to 23-26 (ish). Thanks.
