Square Dancing (Run now by Vikorus) Updates on P.8

Postby Marfski on Fri May 30, 2008 7:23 pm

IMPORTANT UPDATE: I have stepped down as organizer of this tournament. Vikorus has graciously taken over the directing of the tournament. All updates from Vikorus are on p8 of this thread at http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=91&t=52527&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=105

FREEMIUMS WELCOME! YOU MUST KEEP ONE SLOT OPEN AT ALL TIMES UNTIL THE TOURNAMENT IS COMPLETED!

THEME:
Do-Si-Do your way through this tournament as you dance/play with every player in the tournament before you are done. Perfect your footwork and your moves so you will end up the best dancer/player in the end!

DESCRIPTION:
This will be a singles tournament for 20 players. There will be no elimination. There will be 20 rounds. There will be a different map for each round. Each player will play one game per round for a total of 20 games per person. The rounds have been arranged so that every player will have a chance to play every one of the other 19 competitors before the tournament is over. During the tournament every player will have to play one player twice in order for the rounds to work out. Player 1 will play player 11 twice, player 2 will play player 12 twice, player 3 will play player 13 twice, and so on.

GAME MAPS (In order of rounds):
Africa
Ancient Greece
Cairn's Coral Coast
Chinese Checkers
Classic
Conquer Man
Germany
Great Lakes
Greater China
Iberia
Madness
Middle Earth
North America
Siege
Soviet Union
USA
U. S. Senate
World 2.1
WWII Eastern Front
8 Thoughts

All the games are:
Chained (With the exception of Conquer Man which is Unlimited)
Sequential
Sunny
Cards have been split evenly between No Cards, Escalating and Flat Rate for each round. For instance there will be 7 games with no cards, 7 games with flat rate cards and 6 games with escalating cards
Singles

SCORING:
1 point per game won
0 points per game lost
A running tally of points will be kept during the tournament and the winner will be the person with the most points at the end of the tournament.

WRAP UP:
Hopefully this will be an enjoyable tournament since you will all be guaranteed 20 games and have the chance to play and meet many other players. I will accept 6 reserves. Please try to ensure that you are able to complete the tournament if you sign up since reserves will have a decreased chance of winning the tournament as the rounds increase. I do realize that sometimes things happen that are out of our control.

Great idea, Marfski! Your very first time hosting a Tournament, and it looks like a real winner to me. I'd join but I don't want to play against MEK, who is not only a family member, but a triples partner of mine as well. Put me down as an alternate, though.

I would mention with big highlighted letters that it's opened for freemiums (if I understood correctly) and how many games there will be at once (1 if I understood correctly but it was a bit unclear for me). Otherwise, good luck with your tournament and if it is one game at a time then sign me up :)

Thanks for the suggestion amazzony. I added the caption that freemiums are welcome. Sorry if it was a bit unclear. The general idea is that you will get to play everybody once before the tournament is done. Only one game at a time. I added you since it is just one game at a time. Welcome!

No problem, I like to butt in where it's actually none of my business  Anyway, as I wasn't sure how many rounds are played at once then I wanted to make sure. Glad that I could join (not that I'm a freemium but I'm having problems keeping my game count low enough to maintain properly). Plus letting know that freemiums are welcome makes them join :D
