Re: DeadBeat Counter
How about you make it so it says when they deadbeated?

Re: DeadBeat Counter
After reading everyone's posts, I think there's general consensus that this is a good things.
Some concerns:
1. You can get penalized for deadbeating you did when you were a noob - this can be addressed by a rolling percentage by the % you deadbeated in your last 75 games
The other point raised was that you can check through negative feedback - but like it was mentioned, it's time-consuming + many times people don't leave negatives for deadbeats (put them on foe list instead).
If we just have a simple % number, we can differentiate from those who do it regularly (5-10%+), and those who do it occasionally (<5%).
Please, please please, let's make this happen.

Re: DeadBeat Counter
I'd love to see something like this happen.
I just played a 5 player game. 3 blue ?'s. All three missed. 9 days. And they aren't playing anymore. So new players who don't have the patience to wait and play, to hell with them. Anyone who really wants to play will and won't miss. And defferred armies is a big joke. You should never be able to get those troops back. THATwill really cut down on all the misses.
And by the way. Ive been on since Sept. 746 games. I have missed one turn. And that was because my phone went out for almost two days.

Re: DeadBeat Counter
An added thought.
If this is done then make it so that only deadbeating in the last 300-500 games or the last 9-12 months count. If a player changes their behaviour their record should show that IMO.

Any mods reading?
I think lots of people agree on this idea - provided it is a rolling percentage of the last 75 games or so.

Re: DeadBeat Counter
We are planning a revamp of the feedback system which will make it easier to tell if someone is a deadbeat.

Look at this terrible S**T. An Assassin game. I guess I should just stock up and wait for the Bloobs to drop...

Re: DeadBeat Counter
Quick questions:
1. What sort of revamp? Will it be a clear, easily identifiable percentage?
2. If not, can we please include it?

Re: DeadBeat Counter
Shit happens. You see stalemates happen in speed games all the time where the game goes 2 hours+ and people have to leave. To say that's against the "spirit" of the game would be BS.'
Take this game. http://www.conquerclub.com/game.php?game=2482487.
It turned into a stalemate and I didn't have time to stick around, so I deadbeated, and everyone greeted it graciously as opposed to someone who suicides instead. Is that what you want? People who will suicide other people so they are quickly eliminated so that their deadbeat score doesn't go up? I deadbeated because I had made plans to go to the gym with a friend. Even in casual games, the only thing this would possibly do would be to make players who could be fair and deadbeat (which I don't know why all you little whiners care so much about it, it's the GOOD way to get out of a game), suicide instead. Deadbeat is the best thing a player can do to get out of a situation; the only legitimate complaint about deadbeating is when someone does it right before they get eliminated. Otherwise, deadbeating saves a ruined game from other players.

Re: DeadBeat Counter
Why do we "whiners" care so much? Because of the people who deadbeat, 99.99% are not like the ones you described - they just leave without a word, in the middle of a game, RUINING it for everyone. Making someone wait 15 minutes is a long time indeed, in speed games. It turned into a stalemate and I didn't have time to stick around, so I deadbeated, and everyone greeted it graciously as opposed to someone who suicides instead. Real-life happens sometimes - so if someone deadbeats a little, fine - less than 1-2% - no one is in SUCH stalemates as often as you describe. But if someone deadbeats regularly, we SHOULD know and that person SHOULD be shamed, because they DO ruin games

Re: DeadBeat Counter
No, deadbeating is a way for a person to leave without disrupting the game. I don't care WHAT game you're in, deadbeating midgame is STILL a way to get out of suiciding. You will see a significant higher rate of suicides if you do what you suggest, so NO, I'm completely against it.bringiton4 wrote:Why do we "whiners" care so much? Re: DeadBeat Counter
I hear what you're saying, and in some very limited cases, when everyone in the game agrees, I see why you might leave like that. No, deadbeating is a way for a person to leave without disrupting the game. I don't care WHAT game you're in, deadbeating midgame is STILL a way to get out of suiciding. Two things: It happens quite rarely that everyone agrees. It's MUCH more often that people just deadbeat cause they're losing, or without a word, or some such.
Secondly, as a obvious point of the first, deadbeating is not a way "to leave without disrupting the game". If you leave suddenly, you make people wait 15 minutes, which is a LONG in a speed game. Amazingly annoying. Also, you almost always leave someone at a huge disadvantage, especially if it's a team game.
That's a far more prevalent issues, that occurs about a 100000% more than your case does
Re: DeadBeat Counter
A good way to solve this problem would to not have the deadbeat counter for speed games. It's a big difference anyway, missing 15 minutes and missing 72 hours. You shouldn't be penalized for deadbeating in speed games but you should be for standard (24 hour) games.

Re: DeadBeat Counter
Tubaman,
Appreciate the thought - but what about doubles games? I love doubles - play them consstantly - on speed. Of course I want to know if my partner is prone to just leaving in the middle (as, trust me, many doubles players are)

Re: DeadBeat Counter
Ah I too love doubles games...I don't have a premium membership so I haven't played any doubles speed games. You do have a good point, maybe we could have 2 seperate deadbeat counters, one for standard games, one for speed games?bringiton4 wrote:Tubaman,
