This is what i mean, in europe we have a balanced love for particular sports be it football etc, americans just think f*ck that and loose what love they have as a country and become singles. You then loose your sence of comunity ?, i ema fair enough in the town i live in there are fights etc but we come together to play football becuz we love, no matter who we are.

im sorry bro i just think we a closer nation and im proud of that

Sorry mate I still can't see where the hell you're coming from :(

We DO play soccer in America. Furthermore, we DO play soccer on an international level. I don't understand where you're coming from on the "Americans make up their own sports that they can win at" argument.

Maybe you should note that soccer is the main INTERNATIONAL SPORT recognized in America and that the world cup is the main INTERNATIONAL SPORTING EVENT (aside from the Olympics of course) viewed in America? We don't play against you in sports we "invented", such as American Football, so i don't see where you're coming from in terms of "we want to beat the rest of the world so we make our own sports."

To sum MY point up, we're perfectly diverse in our sports. I havent seen anything which would suggest otherwise.

That's one truly warped view. You were correct in one of your earlier posts--you are incredibly narrow-minded. That's sad. Judging from your obvious lack of rational thought, you cannot be more than 16.

Did you grow up here? Do you live here now? Christ in heaven are you people guillible--to form incredibly biased opinions based on assumption, word-of-mouth, and sheer innuendo. Do you see me presuming to know what your society is like because of what I have read in a book or seen on TV?

What the hell am I doing arguing with someone who lacks the wisdom and experience needed to survive on his own, let alone try to form an educated opinion on cultural differences and their propensity towards the irrelevant? You're right, Ronald...Americans are all obese, self-centered, self-absorbed, uneducated, ostentatious, bigoted, war-mongering shells of human existence. CNN said so. It must be true.

American Football is not as big of an injury deal. You're just as likely to get injured by a legal move in soccer as you are from a legal American football hit. It's when people start breaking the rules or the guy with the ball does something to leave himself exposed that you get hurt. Also, you're really not risking your life in American Football. It hasn't been that way since they banned clotheslines and Facemasks.

European football is exciting and for many people is there life.

Wrong. We didn't use European football because it's just not that popular here in the states.

The beauty of soccer is its simplicity and purity

A round object..the ball...and a flat space
That's it and that's why it has probably been played in one form or another since the first man accidently kicked some roundish object and thought hey thats fun....

Much as I love to watch American Football I find it too contrived and artificial...

I can't say i like either of them, except for the world cup, that's fun! :) but i have to say european because american football just looks like some cheap rip off of rugby.

Soccer is the most popular female sport in America, and is very popular among younger people as OnlyAmbrose said.
So you only speak for yourself, not the majority of americans.
I think in about 10 years it will be a most popular sport in America and America will have a great soccer team.
Soccer is great because if you want to play it you only have to hava a small flat area, 4 shirts or rocks (goals), 5 friends and a ball.
Kinda like basketball.

Judging from what you just said, you haven't seen a soccer game in your entire life

What are you guys on about soccer and american football both suck. Australian football is no1. High scores and fasted paced.

And for the English out there. The ashes is ours.
There can only be one. OK sometimes two or three.

Highest place- 35
Highest score- 2517

As I haven't seen college soccer games televised every Saturday, professional soccer games televised on Sundays, and as there are no Monday Night Soccer games and no Soccer Super Bowl, I think I am speaking for the majority of Americans.

From what I can gather from people who know about soccer, they enjoy it more as a participation sport and not a spectating one. And that's what this thread is all about. Why hasn't soccer caught on in America to the level of American football as a spectator sport?

If I could just figure out the rules, you might be right . . .

It looks like rugby (which I played for a few years in college) but it's not rugby.

I agree that it certainly has gotten that way. The NFL is just a big commericalized mess.

That's why I watch high school football games! Free admission, the games are just as good, and I actually have a reason to root for my team :D

As a side note..

cross country PWNS both footballs.

Talking about simple sports, what could be more simple than 14 people seeing who can run the fastest? ^_^

Whats so good about America Football? You can predict the results... Some years ago (like 15 years) we could watch the Super Bowl in Brazilian open TV... Wow, the score is just like the critics predicted :?

Soccer also can be a bit boring, I think. Not only some poor played games, I hate championships like Spain National, or English Premier League, where only 2-3 teams have major chances of win... Try to predict what team will be Brazilian champion before the tourney start... or try to predict World Cup champion... its not easy when you have 8-10 teams with real possibilities, and only one goal can make all difference.

i like Football(european) far better
it might just be because ive grown up with it or that it flows much better, american football keeps stopping and restarting just because one person gets tackled
Would you choose supremecy if it lead to isolation?
