It's story time. (I love telling stories ... what's the use of stories that ironically are true but to be told?)

Once upon a time there was a very nice man of moderate means and wealth who owned a very small online game company. His company was small but even still he moved the entire company to the land of Jimmy Buffet and Earnest Hemmingway. The company continued to be a small and slightly not profitable company, but he had considerable wealth and everyone was happy.

One day this lovely company came a knocking wanting to buy his company out. (I won't mention names but the founder was a Mr. B. Gates.) They had a verbal agreement for over a year but they backed out of the agreement in the end.

Heart broken at the thought of corporate rejection, the owner hooked up with a two bit floosy of a publically owned company, got bought out, moved out of Paradise and promptly left the company after 6 months because he realized that not being completely in charge where the employees would work all the time to give him eye candy for his games in fact sucked and was (gasp) real work.

Meanwhile, I managed to board the Titanic (Acclaim) but got off the boat just before it hit the iceberg (bankrupcy). Don't let this happen to you! Never accept verbal agreements from any company! Always ask for corporate pre-nuptual agreemetns in writing!

You get the right to see what is in the public domain. Apart from that you have a right to sweet foxtrot alpha information about the business, and quite right too. Everyone has a price. For Lack to come here and say he'd never ever sell CC no matter what would be a dumb idea because he could eventually get a offer that he cannot refuse, allowing him to retire early. Hell, there may come a time when this isn't what he wants to do anymore and he wants to move on to another project.

You likely won't get an answer from Lack on this. Saying that he'd never sell would just put him in a worse position if he eventually does sell (I've seen this happen to 3 sites now), and saying he would sell would start the rumor mill that CC is on the market.
